Story about Card Debt

... She was paying most of her payments through Bank UPI. but did around 3000 Rs. transaction on her card. and automatically minimum due is paid off. she didn't check her mails for statements, SMS saying auto debit has been done and she ignored..... ...... then i see her statement it grew to 60k-61k.
I don't know how she missed it, she is usually good with finance basics, Investing regularly in SIP, Had emergency fund, not doing any impulse buying. she paid off that 60k.

How long did it take for 3k to grow into 60k ?!!! ... And she didn't have any inkling all this time ?!!! --- And she's good with finance basics?! It sure boggles the mind!

It may sound cruel, but I think the lesson she learned was not priced exorbitantly. --- She'd never forget it.
.

Thats really informative, I want to know about NEFT transfer recently I read ICICI considers NEFT payments as refund and deducts reward points/cashbacks?

No deduction so far in my Amazon Pay ICICI CC. These days, I use only NEFT. Until UPI brings scheduling.

NEFT payments aren't considered as refunds. If ICICI ever does so, I will sue them for sure.

ICICI actually provides two IFSC codes to settle payment via NEFT. Both works as confirmed by others here...

true as i said she learned lesson and closed the card,i ask her she was paying some of expenses through credit card. so i think they add up to. but most of her transection were done through bank directly so amout was there but no large.

and she had now cut her ties to credit card altogether.

It was in that thread i was referring to.

How tough was it to contact each bank and do this?
As far as I recall, mostly did it through the respective apps. I believe I did have to call ICICI, but I have a wealth management account there, so it was an easy call with no waiting or IVR.

Scapia is the last card I got and they gave the option to choose the billing cycle right at the start while activating the card. That was a nice touch. All card issuers should do that.
