Strange ICICI Account Upgrade to Private Banking because of Times Black Credit Card??

Could any of Private Banking customer do me a favour?

Please just ask CC if Private Banking Customers can get the Wealth Select Debit Card? (Or do you only get private banking DC?)

Also, just ask how much charges are applied if we get Private Banking DC but get downgraded afterwards?

For wealth account holders, there is a Wealth Debit Card, and for Private Banking customers, there's the Private Visa Infinite Debit Card. Personally, I prefer the Private Visa Infinite Debit Card because it seems much better compared to the Wealth Debit Card. Additionally, it offers more lounge access benefits.

A short while ago, I received the ICICI Bank Private Banking debit card. The build quality of the card isn’t as impressive as expected, but it does look good. The card was delivered to me in perfect condition.

Considering that this is a lifetime free debit card, it’s quite appealing, especially due to the excellent lounge access benefits it offers. Compared to other ICICI Bank debit cards, this one stands out. For example, similar benefits are offered by ICICI Rubyx and Sapphiro cards, but those require an annual fee of up to ₹2,000. In contrast, this card provides similar perks without any cost, making it a great choice as a lifetime free card.

That said, the build quality could certainly be improved. I’m attaching a few photos so you can get an idea of how the card looks.

Honestly my platinum normal visa debit looks better than this private infinite banking card.

Also, the lounge axx, probably will work when physical card is present but if you try to add it to dreamfolks web access website, it gives this below error. All my cards debit or credit which promises lounge access get's added easily to dreamfolks website, this card however isn't getting added.

Yes you can. The customer care actually offered me that card. They told me I am eligible for 3 LTF DC's, wealth, wealth select and private infinite.

I won't ever specifically ask this as we all know how we got this banking in the first place, but in any case if charges are levied, I am sure icici will reverse the charges and if they don't, then we can certainly go to RBI as ICICI never specifically have officially said we will get private banking with times black card, so it's their communication problem, not ours.

I just raised the request by calling customer care & raised request for private banking visa infinite debit card & they took request. Card is visible on netbanking & bin is of visa infinite. Card will be delivered in 1-2 days.


I was wealth management account holder. Got upgraded to private banking because I applied for times black, which I have canceled before activation.

It’s good that this card is available right now because it might remain lifetime free if obtained now. However, over time, the bank might downgrade your account status. As far as I know, the Private Debit Card is exclusively available to Private Banking account holders. On the other hand, the Wealth Debit Card can also be issued to other premium account holders if they submit a request through their Relationship Manager (RM).

I am fine with downgrade to wealth management, if or whenever it's done. And, If they ever charge me for this card, I will close this & use my wealth management world debit card which will remain LTF.

You hold 2 saving accounts, may be thats causing the issue somewhere. I can't guess any other reason because for me they easily took request & card was generated on same day on netbanking. No questions asked.

Well, most probably they would first communicate about the upcoming downgrade just like they did with WM accounts few months back and then the charges would be levied

Login to netbanking. Go to the account section. then click on the account name. It will show you the details of the account. There is a field saying Account Category. That is the scheme code.
