Suggestion for Savings Account

Hi,

I've held on to my SBI Savings Account for so long, opened in remote village, so MAB requirement is there I think. But anyways, it tends to be problematic when I need to visit branch for money deposits etc. Last visit was more than 2 hours just to get money deposited! But hopefully you get the idea where my rantings are going.

I need to open an savings account in some other bank, so I'm not always stuck for hours for such quick tasks. It doesn't have to zero balance. I checked online, HDFC and ICICI seems to be closest, they're more or less at same proximity from my house.

So what should I go? HDFC or ICICI?

My requirements are basically —
1. Occasional offline transactions such as money deposits/withdrawal.
2. Better branch experience
3. In long run I might also want to take credit card in picture, I don't hold any CC from ICICI/HDFC, haven't tried HDFC, ICICI have rejected me twice/thrice.
4. If possible, good discount/cash back from debit card, I have heard from HDFC can get some discount while paying credit card bills.

P.S. I also have a Kotak 811 savings account but unfortunately its branches are faraway.

If you aim for debit card that give some cashback and good rewarding credit cards then HDFC is good to go.
But i have seen some people recommending ICICI bank account instead of HDFC if you just think about banking services.
ICICI debit and credit cards are not much rewarding except ICICI Amazon Pay and ICICI Platinum credit card which are LTF.

I think you can go with HDFC bank.

I have both HDFC & ICICI for more than 10-12 years. There have been some rare occasions where both were not at par in their services; but I believe it's been case with every bank. Majorly, services expectation from both have been good. I haven't been to branch very often but even my limited experience has been good
(e.g. Getting Draft, Getting/Depositing Cash etc has been smooth).

I'm not charged for Alerts & Debit card in any of the accounts (as both when opened were salary account), and RM for both are good for basic banking needs. Not sure of ICICI, but in HDFC all family account can be grouped together and all share same benefit of parent account

I personally like netbanking & mobile app of ICICI; however if you plan to have CC in future; prefer HDFC for better reward structure.

Bro i have hdfc preferred and icici titanium account and i can say icici is trash in terms of service speed. In hdfc they solve issues in 2 days mostly, but icici takes weeks. Maybe this is just my experience but sharing this is important. btw i am facing a glitch in icici, when i call customer care IVR doesn't recognize my number and says its not registered, but it is registered. Go with hdfc for better experience.

HDFC should be your first preference
Additionally if required open with ICICI as well.

Services wise both are almost same.
HDFC DC gives better cashback over ICICI that the reason for HDFC as first preference.

Kind of leaning towards HDFC only

What do you mean by "charged for Alerts", SMS alerts? And anyways, thinking of going with HDFC only.

Could you tell by default what Debit Card they provide? And if same can be changed at later point. Any other miscellaneous charges etc. MAB should be 10k I think for a city like Agra.

You'll get millennia dc worth 590 rs
They will also have SMS alert charges which you can turn off according to your needs.

Nothing else to be mentioned specifically.

So, I had some difficulty with the online account opening process and ended up starting over twice before it finally worked. After about 20 minutes, the process went smoothly, and I was able to complete my KYC (Know Your Customer) process. However, I noticed that my branch information seems to be incorrect, it shows "KANJURMARG WEST". Despite this, I was able to generate a password for net banking. Right now, my account looks empty. I'm not sure if I missed an option called "Extended KYC" in a tutorial, but I also don't know when I'm supposed to load money into the account.
BTW I'm using the SavingsMax account.
When I am supposed to load money into the account, or can I load money into it already?

That incorrect branch is just a temporary thing it will be corrected with a week automatically. I also had experienced same thing.

You can load money now.

I have never opened digital account before. So when one follows its process and successfully completed ( I assume at this stage you will instant receives your bank account number?), he gets zero balance account and based on initial online deposit, bank decides to assign related account category?

No bro 😂
You have to select which account variant you want to open.

Nope, you get an option to choose account variant in setup process.
