Suggestions on credit card

Hi all,
Hoping to get some suggestions on credit card for HDFC.
- I currently hold a salary account with HDFC under preferred account and also hold a Regalia LTF with a current limit of 10 lakh. My spends on average are around ₹50K/month and was wondering if it makes sense to reach out to my RM for upgrading my Regalia CC to DCB. The only reason why I have not done it already is because I have read it somewhere that DCB is rarely LTF and even if it is, the recent devaluation doesn’t make it that good anymore.

If HDFC does not provide the card LTF, is it worth to get DCB or some other cards like Axis Magnus might make more sense if I am paying anyways?

Most of my spends are on offline/online shopping, or restaurants. Spends on travel is not much. My current CTC is 24L PA if that makes any difference.
Credit cards I have:
- HDFC Regalia LTF
- ICICI Amazon pay LTF
- AXIS Myzone LTF
- Indusind aura edge LTF
- IDFC millenia LTF
- Zomato LTF

Seeing your spending is not enough to consistently reach the monthly milestone on Magnus, I would recommend against it; I have DCB, and even with recent devaluations, it's still a good enough card and a considerable upgrade over Regalia, a monthly spend of 50K will get you the annual wavier milestone so if that's the case you can get it.
Given your CTC, if you want a no-nonsense reward rate card(3.3%), you can try SC Ultimate you will be covered on all fronts, plus the payment of the annual fee gets you an equal worth of reward points, meaning you'll only have to incur GST cost out of pocket (Rs 900)
If you don't want ultimate since part of the 50k is offline, you can try BoB Eterna as well it has a monthly spending quota (3.75% returns) for online expenditure that accrues an accelerated reward rate.

Hope this helps. I am sure others will chime in and suggest a combination of cards that can get better returns. Cheers!

Thank you for the suggestions. It definitely makes sense to not apply for Magnus. I had applied for SC ultimate last month and it got approved as well but since I didn’t receive any updates from the bank for a month, I emailed the bank to have it canceled. For BOB, always have heard bad customer reviews so never thought of applying any of their cards but seems interesting enough to look into it. Thanks again.

Do you mind sharing your experience of the application process for SC was it straightforward, or did you face any issues, especially on the employer front... they seem to have some list, and they don't approve of anyone not on the list. The recent devaluation of DCB has been upsetting, and I don't spend on it unless it's via Smartbuy (so barely a few thousand every month), so thinking about going for ultimate.

Also, for BoB just a heads-up, they are excruciatingly slow, so be patient it might take weeks.

For SC Ultimate, I had applied through their normal online process. There are 4 steps where first, I inputted my personal info, and then employer details and in the third step I received a confirmation message. There was no step 4 for me which said ‘documents’. Even after around 10-12 days, I still didn’t received any communication whatsoever on email/text/call so I emailed them asking for an update. After several days and many more emails I finally received a reply stating that my application was sent to respective department for approval. It was already a month by then so I decided to cancel my application altogether and emailed them about it which they accepted and canceled it.
I didn’t know of any employer list but while applying, I think my employer was found easily through autofill if that matters.

For BOB eterna, I tried applying through their portal directly on the eterna application page but after getting all the information from me, the selection criteria was just some other three cards of BOB and not eterna. So canceled that application as well.
