Axis Magnus Suggestions to utilize Reward Points accumulated before 5:2 devaluation (1Lac Points+)

Hi everyone,

As the thread title suggests I have accumulated around 1 Lac + points in the ER portal and expecting to receive the monthly bonus for April by July end. Now the inherent reaction looking at the upcoming devaluation is to immediately convert the points to a suitable Miles/Hotel FFP.

I was looking at first converting to ITC green points (75K points to 60K GP's) since that provides me the flexibility to further transfer it to Mariott Bonvoy points. Beyond I will have around 60-70K points leftover which I am confused about what to do. I was looking at the Accor conversions as well but somehow I'm unable to get a hang of their program and where to utilize the points.

I guess many of the fellow members must be facing a similar dilemma therefore any suggestions will be more than welcome.

Thanks

If you would be travelling to North America then Aeroplan makes sense but also look at Privilege Club as Avios can be transferred freely between British Airways, Qatar Airways, Aer Lingus and Iberia. Plus if you are looking for adventure 🙂 You can get (Qatar gold {Oneworld sapphire} + 20k avios) or 55k avios points if you take newly launched indus ind avios card in first year.
The issue is the miles requirement for Avios is quite high over star alliance of united/Aeroplan and the availability of qatar redemption is very poor due to over demand hence avoiding it.

Also apart from Hotel, in case you are looking at transferring it to Air miles then United Air is the best choice is what I feel, because UnitedAir has tie up with almost all major airlines (Vistara, Singapore Airline, Lufthansa, Thai Air etc) and reward flight booking is very easy and the Air mile requirement is also lower than what they ask for in the official website.
Not true. Airmile requirement is less when you book directly on the airline site.
I have noticed this for Vistara, Singapore Air and Thai Air. All 3 of them.

Vistara BLR - DEL Economy
Direct: 7.5k
United: 8.8k

Thai Airways BLR - BKK Business
Direct: 27.5k
United: 55k

Singapore Air BLR - SIN Economy
Direct: 20k
United: 23k

Not sure about Lufthansa.

Everyone is after Q Suites 😉 But yes Aeroplan makes sense if availability is good for your trip and prefer them over dynamic priced united miles. United devalued their miles badly.

Partner awards are pretty bad in Qatar.
I have bad experience, I have tried to redeem twice and both times it failed.
Flights show in the partner award list, You cannot book it instantly. When you click book it takes it as a service request.

Some agent will reply after 3-4 days. Both the times I got a reply that the reward tickets are not available.

For partners, always transfer to british airways and then book from there as everything is online. Also, few days back qatar switched their partner chart to match that of BA.

I personally would go for
1. Accor
2. ITC
3. Krisflyer (Good for South Asia, Singapore, Philipines, Aus, NZ etc)

Turkish Air doesn't seem to show up Air India flights anymore. I am not sure if it's temporary or permanent so don't want to risk my points getting stuck there.
United is good for travel to the North American region. For domestic and Asia, the point requirement is more than the airline website directly, And Business class availability is very low.

Hey folks. I transferred 25k ER to Accor. The status is still "Initiated"

I still have 30k points left which I want to transfer to accor, can I initiate another transfer to Accor while transaction is not complete?

This is my first time redeeming, not sure if it will cause some conflict and both transfer will fail? Should I wait till these points get credited?

Just called up travel edge support. I have around 90k stuck in Initiated phase. Same old "Technical Issue", we don't know what it is and when asked what's the resolution, the agent straight up said I don't know. LOL

I think its high command order to stop transfers. As none of people who made transfer is receiving it.

So what I can infer from this thread is that none of the airline transfer partners are worth it. All are fraught with problems such as technical problems, devalued miles, unavailable flights and seats, high charges, high miles requirement, bad support, etc.

I have around 1.5L points, I prefer traveling within India but can also plan a trip to South Asian countries. Please help me where would I redeem my points? I can redeem it for both flight as well as hotel.
