Thanks to This Guy, We Lost ₹750 Cashback Per Month

I dont know why people think SBI didnt know about it. Its just that not many folks were using it so it was easier for them to ignore rather than getting it fixed, but since more folks tweeted and posted about it, it gained popularity and more people got to know about it than they would like, hence they removed the option altogether

So, there’s this guy on Reddit who bragged about reporting a 1% reward exploit to HDFC and SBI, and now it’s patched. Here’s the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCardsIndia/s/XTjMEuqmRP.

Because of him, HDFC cardholders like us are losing ₹750 cashback every month. Seriously, was it necessary to ruin it for thousands of genuine users instead of just quietly benefiting? Exploiting systems might not be ideal, but was HDFC or SBI going bankrupt because of this? Absolutely not.

This kind of self-righteous behavior only harms cardholders while the banks, who already rake in billions, are barely affected. And the worst part? This guy didn’t stop at reporting it—he went online to brag about how he ruined a small perk for everyone. Talk about seeking validation at the expense of others.

Honestly, some people just don’t think about the consequences of their actions. What do you gain by snitching like this? A pat on the back from a corporation? Meanwhile, the rest of us, who genuinely rely on such benefits, are left paying the price for your so-called “good deed.”

HDFC will thank him once they see no one is applying for their new Platinum range.
These "no one" are actually minority

When you visit HDFC Branch or talk to any HDFC RM they will say "sir this is the most ultra luxury - ultra premium - extraordinarily - highest limit debit card which we can offer 🫴"

And that sir will get this card as he will be "exclusively" offered this as LTF.

While Millennia would be laughing in the corner.
