My friend have trip for bali through travel triangle
and the page is charging convince fee of 1.8% for credit card

Is this legal ?

If they are being charged by MC/ VISA, they are passing on the cost to consumers. Pay with Rupay CC using UPI with BHIM. No charges plus CC rewards.

Yeah its legal coz they've to pay mdr charges to card companies. Even offline shops ask us to pay mdr charges if we're swiping credit card to pay them.

Did you know that you can file a complaint with the RBI if a merchant charges you MDR fees for using a credit card?

Did you know that if a merchant charges you MDR fees for using a credit card, which is supposed to be paid by the merchant, you can file a complaint with the RBI banking ombudsman? This is in line with the RBI and bank policy that requires merchants to pay MDR fees for accepting credit card...

That is just a suggestion by RBI. However, as per Sumanta in that thread, online merchants can take that fee as convenience charge.

Every merchant does that. Even our IT dept & IRCTC takes extra charges for using Credit card in the form of convenience fees.
