Yep, I did recently.
I transported my bike from Indore to Pune via train.
There are 2 ways -
1. As luggage - it will cost you 25% more than 2nd way, but it will go with yourself at the date of travel. You need RC, Insurance, Owner Adhar Card, Confirm Ticket. You need to go to nearest railway junction, and fill up a form and attached the documents.
Before booking you need to empty petrol completely from your bike. You need to pack your bike with cartoons or similar stuff. Don't worry most of the time agent or some shop is there near to station, they can do it with some more money.
2. As courier - it will cost lesser.
You need owner RC, owner adhar, insurance and receivers adhar card.
Rest process is same.
Note:- if you do all process by yourself then can save 500-800 depends on where you are transporting your vehicle
Don't give any money for uploading and downloading your vehicle inside or outside of the train. It will be covered in your booking, not explicitly mentioned and station employee will not tell this.
Cost of transportation depends on base fare from station to station plus additional 1% of your insurance IDV.
I am giving this information based on my recent experience.
Our government institutions are pathetic and encourages corruption so intentionally they hide this information from public. So that you can be looted.
