Issue Resolved Unable to link Marriott account to Amex

Hi All,

I need help here.... I have amex points and when am trying to link the Marriott account to transfer the points, its saying as below.
Your Marriott Bonvoy® account number <Account No> could not be connected. Please contact Marriott Bonvoy® for more details.

In both the accounts the first name and last name are correct, i have verified. Same has happened with my Wife's account as well.


Any idea how to get it resolved.
 
Solution
Got the resolution today, last month I called Amex customer support and asked to change the name. They took the request and I have uploaded the passport which clearly has First and last names.

They took almost 10-15 days to process that after multiple escalations and processed it today.

Immediately after receiving the confirmation email I tried to link Marriott and it worked and sent 100 points to test and I received them as well...
If it's new bonvoy account then wait for 3-4 days as bonvou account take time to fully activate as some activities going on in the bacend.

If it's old account you can connect to amex customer care and raise the issue. They can link it from backend
 
It's not about Aadhar, It's just that the Marriott has First and Last name. But Amex has First Middle and Last Name. I provided my exact name displayed on Marriott Profile and asked Amex to change my name in their file 😀 Let's see how it goes, it's a battle I am fighting from past 4 months!

I think it is easier to change via Marriott.

For me it happened on the call with an agent.

The change reflected immediately.

No this is not it. My wife has middle name in Amex but not in Marriott and her account is linked.

Amex only matches first and last name, so it's definitely about the order. If your family name is mentioned first in your aadhaar, Amex automatically considers it as your first name and that is where the mismatch occurs.

You can get this order changed in Aadhaar itself to avoid such confusions in future. Banks pull your name as it is from Aadhaar and just put the words as FIRST MIDDLE LAST irrespective of what's what.

The no of times you can change the name in Aadhar is only 2 times in the lifetime... So better to not exhaust those just for these banking or insurance companies way of extracting the name. Better to spend time and get it corrected everytime with these companies is what I feel...
