Unable to use amazon credit card in amazon

I have an amazon pay credit card.

I have made plenty of transactions in amazon using this credit card, gotten the 2% cash back for bill pays and 5% for purchases. No problems.

Suddenly , I am seeing this - (screenshot attached) and I have been seeing it for **** 3 days now?

Any ideas? If I call ICICI they say card has no problem, if I call Amazon they say try later. They are not able to tell how much later.

The worst part? I am able to add my card to my wife's amazon account and it allows me to move forward.

So 2 questions
1. Has any one faced this error before, and has any idea how to resolve it, what causes it etc?
2. I have prime, but my wife does not. If I add my card to my wife's account (let's say temporarily) and make a purchase, will I still get 5% cash back, or will I get only 1% because 5% is only for purchases on "my own amazon account"?

Your wife's account should be Prime to receive 5% CB, or else for Non-Prime members, it is 3% CB, which will be credited to YOUR account after statement generates.

First give what @D₹V suggested a try.

Are you trying to buy gift cards? Those have a limit of around 15k-20k and beyond that you can't buy with credit cards (will give this same error).

That's weird. I thought only cardholder Prime status mattered. So Amazon goes around checking the membership of every account you use the card in?

I wish they'd bring Amazon Household to India and allow us to share.

Axis Flipkart gives 5% in every account doesn't matter whether Plus or non Plus. Also you don't have to pay 1500 annually either for 5% cashback.
I think someone who uses Amzn to that extent won't mind paying 1000+ for prime each year - considering all the prime exclusive cashbacks/discounts which are there alongside access to Prime video which has a good exclusive niche catalogue

Think Can use it in wife account if she's prime for 5%

Apay is good no doubt if you are a prime number and shops a lot from Amazon. Else for Non prime members with less shopping volume, HDFC Millenia and SBI Cashback are better options.

Personally, I am not a heavy Amazon user, so I don't find the prime membership useful.

Only card holder prime status is sufficient to receive 5% cash back. However faster and free delivery related benefit will not get as spouse doesn't have prime status.

Amazon pay ICICI card is best for 1% cash back category as it doesn't have more exclusions. Many have got 1% cash back for even direct jewellery shop transactions.

Card holder prime status is important, not other account prime status.
You can multi-quote now... Just press the +Quote button and click Insert Quotes in reply. Having that many replies one after the other saying the same thing is a bit jarring.

This has kinda come to India. Amazon now has profiles in shopping section too.
Not the same thing sir. Profiles have been there for like 2+ months, but it's purpose is totally different. Separate account warrants the use of separate payment methods to that person, separate account settings, etc. But profiles just takes all the independence away.

There is no useful purpose to use Same Amazon Shopping account in different devices or profiles especially in India.

Providing the option to share Prime within your household would be a great advantage to the people, but at the same time, it would be worse for Amazon as it'll decrease it's subscription revenue.
