Upcoming Kolkata Trip - Looking for Suggestions

[EDIT]: This is sorted out, I have booked Ibis. Now, looking for suggestions on things to do or places to visit in Kolkata. (post #6)

Hi all,

I need a help. We are visiting BiswaBangla Convention Center Kolkata (work related conference etc) next month for 5 days.
I am planning to book Accor (Either Ibis or Novotel) through points. I have enough points.
Wanted to get an idea which one to book. This is going to be my very first point redemption in my credit cards and points life.
With the current 25% discount going, Ibis is coming at 25k for 3 nights. Whereas Novotel is coming at 45k.
From Google Maps, it seems both are near to the venue (1-2km).
So I am thinking - most of the time, I will be in the hotel. So whether it will be good to book Novotel, or whether Ibis would be enough?
Is there anything exceptional at Novotel, if I am not going to use the hotel facilities like spa or so.
Not looking at future travel plans now. So things like - I can use these points for future trip - is not valid here.
(Or in other words, is there anyone from Kolkata who can tell me if there is a strong reason if I should avoid Ibis and book Novotel?)

I was at ibis recently it’s gud enough if u staying just the night. I wud suggest split bookings. Ibis night with extra benefits Airport pickup and dinner. Next normal night. 3rd night with extra benefits Airport drop off

By the way Novotel is walking distance from ibis. There is an axis mall nearby with lots of eateries. Street food. Sweetshops . I went to Novotel lounge and overall was not so impressed

Hey everyone! 🌟 I'm on the lookout for some awesome suggestions on things to do in Kolkata!
I'll be there for a week for work, but I’ll have my evenings free to explore. If you have any suggestions for places to visit or things to do, please share!
I'll be staying at the Ibis, Kolkata Rajarhat. The hotel part is sorted out.
Thanks a bunch!

I also have upcoming trip to kolkata in January with my spouse to meet her relatives & mine also.

We are staying 3 nights at ITC Royal Bengal & 1 night at Taj Bengal.

Apart from meeting relatives, I also have plan to visit Kali Ghat & Dakshineswar. Will explore street food too at Gariahat & Shyambazar.

I have to check if airport lounge can be booked online during departure & which cards are accepted. Plan to use ola/Uber as i don't think there is any better alternative.

following this thread for related information.

Although I'm sure you people will never visit the Chandni market, Still I'm saying that don't visit the place even if you are thinking to visit once.

Personally I felt that that place is not suitable for everyone, shopkeepers are abusive, always trying to scam you and if you leave without buying they will abuse verbally , physically.

Even you can loose your purse, mobile etc.
Better to skip the place
