Hello TechnoFino Community,

I need advice regarding an ATM withdrawal issue with Canara Bank. On 9th February 2025, I attempted to withdraw ₹500 from an SBI ATM at IIT Ropar Campus. Unfortunately, the money was debited from my account, but the cash was not dispensed.

I waited for one whole day, but no automatic reversal happened, so I raised a complaint with Canara Bank on 10th February 2025. Now, it has been 5 working days, but my complaint is still unresolved. My home branch is in Ghaziabad.

I would like to know:

  1. What is the typical resolution timeline for such cases?
  2. What should be my next steps if the bank does not resolve my issue soon?
  3. Should I escalate the matter to the Banking Ombudsman or RBI CMS Portal?
  4. Since RBI requires a written complaint document, how can I obtain one from the bank?
  5. I have preserved the ATM slip.
Has anyone else faced a similar issue? Please share your experiences and suggestions on how to proceed further.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!

Total 6 calender days including txn day to reverse the txn. After which you're eligible for 100/day.
  1. What should be my next steps if the bank does not resolve my issue soon?
Just chill bro let them delay. You will be eligible for compensation.
  1. Should I escalate the matter to the Banking Ombudsman or RBI CMS Portal?
Not now. Just wait and watch.
  1. Since RBI requires a written complaint document, how can I obtain one from the bank?
You have already mentioned that you made complaint on 10th feb. That's enough. What was the mode of making complaint? Do you have compliant/ticket ID?
  1. I have preserved the ATM slip.
Great

Just chill bro, it's just ₹500. The more they delay, the more compensation you're entitled for.

Thier time lapse on 14th only. 15,16,17: 300 days got accumulated already...

I made the complaint through Customer Care Call centre and I have a complaint no.
Great then, take a chill pill and relax. Wait and watch how long they take to credit.

As soon as your money get reversed/credited. Then after that make an another complaint asking compensation, I have already shown you calculation and if they fail to credit the compensation or deny your complaint then you need to make a complaint with RBI BO. Keep us updated, will let you know what to do & how to do if needed and possible.

Thanks bro for you help.
I will keep you updated.

Ok bro.

The compensation I am talking is about the delay beyond T+5 days for reversing the txn.

In other words, it's for failure to credit ₹500 into your A/c within T+5 days, because your A/c got debited but cash was not dispensed.

Mark post #2 as the best answer if I was able to answer all of your queries satisfactorily.
