Virgin Atlantic: Best option for AMEX users

Virgin Atlantic Flying returns program is unique in the sense that most credit card points dont transfer directly to it. AMEX is the one (that is still going strong) transfers at 2:1 ratio which is decent but nothing great ( compared to other cards and programmes that are 1:1). And to add to it, the point earn on AMEX is slower than our ever favorite magnus or even Infinia

But flying returns is also a program in which you dont get to pay the whole price with all miles as they pass on a large part of the taxes to the user.

This unique combination makes Virgin atlantic a good place to use your AMEX points to full use.

Off season/shoulder rates
1. Economy tickets

DEL-LHR
BOM -LHR are 10k points +100 GBP in taxes
(Revenue ticket for comparison is 35k roughly , based on a round trip price)

2. Premium Economy for same sector are 17.5K points plus 170 GBP in taxes
(Revenue ticket is around 70k for comparison) making almost each point worth Rs 3.

Business class is also an option but the taxes are very high (around 600 GBP)

Note: the tax component on return trip is 100 GBP higher because of the tax that UK charges, so there can be better options available for return trip.

To sum up, if you're planning to visit UK, Flying returns is a good option to use your precious AMEX points.

I've been unable to add my Flying Club account to Amex.

It's been in a pending state for a long time.

Anyone else facing the same issue?

Thanks.
