Virgin Atlantic goes Dynamic

Virgin Atlantic just went dynamic for its own flights as of Oct 30. Let’s dive into what this shift means, starting with the pros:

1️⃣ Saver Awards: Virgin has introduced saver awards, but they’re rare. If you find one, grab it!

India to London:

Economy: 6,000 miles + £56

Premium Economy: 10,500 miles + £81

Business: 23,000 miles + £154

These are the lowest we’ve seen for London, and it’s hard to beat! ( Even the taxes are lower than standard awards )

So with just:

12k Amex points + ~₹5700 ➡️ 1 one way Economy ticket to London!

A 4L spend on Plat Travel gets you enough for 2 returns or even 1 one-way in Business!

India to US:

Economy: 12,000 miles + £161

Premium Economy: 21,000 miles + £220

Business: 51,000 miles + £414

2️⃣ But the flip side...

Standard redemption rates have skyrocketed. India to London:

Economy: up to 150k points one-way

US? Even higher...

Economy: 300k

Premium: 500k

Business: 700k

3️⃣ Other Changes:

Flight change fee: up from £30 to £70

Cancellation fee: up from $50 to $100

No changes are done to partner redemptions.

So, book only if your plans are firm!

💬 This change is getting mixed reviews. I’m all for it (those saver awards are gold!), but others might miss the simplicity of low, fixed redemptions.
