Wearables - Smartwatches enthusiasts

Hello All,

I started on the smartwatch bandwagon with Pebble (11 years ago) and since then I am hooked. I currently have 8 smart watches and have had many more which didnt last.
I have had bad experieces with the Samsung ones though. I have had the galaxy watch 3, which I didnt wear as much becuase I got the watch 4 BT soon and it was needed to be repaired right after the 1 year mark while I was on a holiday. Long story short, they repaired it for free and now its the watch 6 LTE. Its in the service centre for last 20 days because they do not have spare parts for it.

I always knew buying anything expensive in India is foolishness considering the absolute shit show the service here is, but I like gadgets and ended up buying the watch 6 LTE.

8 months in, the buttons stopped working so I took it to the service centre. 1st thing they tell you is "liquid damage" so not covered over warranty. THESE IDIOTS GIVE ME THIS STUPID REASON FOR A WATCH WHICH THE COMPANY TELLS YOU TO SWIM WITH.

I wrote to the CEO and the national service head and they agreed to repair it for free because I don't swim with it & the only water that ever touch the watch is when I wash my hands. I almost treat it as water resistant.

I gave my watch to the service centre on 21st November. Today it's 11th December. (P.S. - the service centre is in Ahmedabad and they are fucking useless and big frauds as well)

It's been a wait of 20 days and counting because they don't have spare parts for it. They don't have spare parts for a watch which is just last gen and actively sold online and offline. Heck, companies even replace watches anywhere else in the world but INDIA WHERE THEY INSIST ON REPAIRING IT. (I have had fossil sent me a replacement in Canada and Fitbit in India so I know it 1st hand)

I am ok with that too but you can't keep my watch forever with you citing non availability of spare parts for a watch you are selling actively everyday. On top of that I have to follow up with my case manager via calls/e-mails every few days because he is not good at communicating with me about the updates.

I am asked to wait until the end of this week. I will write to the CEO and national service head again on Monday to get a replacement because it will be 25th day on Monday,16th December.

Just had to vent and also make you guys aware of the shit show Samsung is in India.

IMO, smartwatches and BT wireless earbuds are just plastic electronic waste. They are made to last not more that a year or so and to use and throw.
I really miss the good old mechanical watches that lasted lifetimes without issues.

To each its own. but I have the huawei and honor smartwatches which have lasted much longer.
They last 2 weeks on a single charge and I have had the Honor Magic watch 2 and Honor watch GS pro for more than 4 years each now. I also have a Huawei Watch GT4 that I got from a friend who was visiting London last year in December so almost a year (they launched the GT4 in August on Flipkart and GT5 in India as well) so I would not say they are built to last a year or so.

It really depends on the brands. Fitbit is dead now and they have quality issues, but a lot of smartwatches last 8-10 years too. (Garmin, Polar, Samsung, Huawei, Honor). I like changing watch faces more often and like to see my notifications on the watch. When I do have my fitness mode on, its again great to track workouts, but overall heart rate, SPO2, steps are all great metrics to make sure you are healthy and fit. (and I rarely take calls on them too)

Update:- After complaining multiple times to the National service head and the CEO (using help me write in Gmail), 🤣😆they have finally updated me that they cant find the parts, and no replacement (which I feel is good in hindsight because the 8 series is gonna release early in 2025 in June instead of August so just 6 months away) because they wont accept but they probably are not making any more of them and just selling the leftover stock. Its out of stock on the Samsung shop (and I doubt it will be back in stock). Flipkart is selling it at the cheapest price and Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay sales also do not have this particular model of Watch 6 LTE 44 mm so I will just get a new watch 7 BT (I guess LTE is not much of use for me) with the voucher they are issuing me of the full amount I paid for the watch.

There is a separate team for that and it can take upto 10 days for getting the voucher which will be valid for 6 months so I guess watch 7 it is now.
