Weird request from HDFC Customer Care

Today I received a very weird call from HDFC customer care (Tele-assist number).

The customer care told me that I have a total of 4 HDFC credit cards in my account (DCP+DCB+RegaliaFirst+NeuInfinity) and that I should close Atleast 1 of these cards.

I promptly told her that DCP card is inactive because it was upgraded to DCB(don’t know why DCP is still showing in my account) but then she asked me close my Regalia First because I haven’t done any transaction on that card in tha last 6 months. I again told her that I will do a small transaction BUT will not place a closure request for that card. She was still trying me to convince me to close my Regalia First(I did not budge).

Has anybody else (with 2 core cards) got any call from HDFC to close their 2nd card ???

I have reglia, dinners premium and infinity and did not receive any such call

What happened in the end. Did you have to close one of the cards or still hold them all.

Nope, didn't close any of my active cards. Did a ₹100 transaction from my Regalia First card so that they don't bother me again. DCB & Tata Neu are also active as I use them regularly.

Also, many people hold 3 HDFC cards so I was never going to cancel any card just because they asked me to. Keeping multiple hdfc core cards during Amazon/flipkart SALE is very helpful.

Nope, didn't close any of my active cards. Did a ₹100 transaction from my Regalia First card so that they don't bother me again. DCB & Tata Neu are also active as I use them regularly.

Also, many people hold 3 HDFC cards so I was never going to cancel any card just because they asked me to. Keeping multiple hdfc core cards during Amazon/flipkart SALE is very helpful.

Cool. I'm trying to get DCB or Infinia while retaining my LTF Regalia.
It's encouraging to see it's practically possible even if the bank officials say otherwise. Thank you

I didn't know that we can have two core credit cards from hdfc. I have recently applied to upgrade Regalia LTF for DCB LTF and got it approved. I should have kept regalia too.

Try calling them & check if you can retain the old card

Try telling them DCB network is limited and so you prefer to retain Regalia as well.
If they say the card is closed and cannot be reactivated, then ask for fresh LTF Regalia or Regalia Gold as floater

Calling them will be of no use, you will end up getting the same reply. Better to email them at priorityredressal.creditcards@hdfcbank.com

Explain to them your situation and maybe they will be able to help you out.

I forgot to mention that email is better after an initial attempt over the phone. 4uziaul bro just mentioned the email address. Try writing to them and reference the attempts made over phone

So, they're saying you can keep 1 core HDFC and 1 co-branded Card?

It appears that the conditions for obtaining 2-core cards have been made significantly stricter by HDFC.
One of my friends who has a salary account in HDFC and gets ~4L/month net salary credited to account was denied 2 core cards. 1-2 years ago even 2-3L/month was sufficient to get 2 core cards.
Maybe they have stopped issuing 2 cards altogether … IDK.
