Luckily, I never lost them. But, lets imagine a purely hypothetical scenario.

What if all your CCs n phone are lost while you are traveling alone ?

Are you prepared to face it ? What are the sequential steps you take ?

Think, analyse n respond. Don't give impulsive replies. Let's help the newbies.

My next step would be to access my laptop/try to get access to a Laptop/PC that would allow me to log into netbanking and block cards. Then, use Find My to trace my phone.
You need to have your login data ready with you. Of all your bank account logins and CC logins (if you are using only their Apps - like pre-paid CCs or recently launched App based CCs).

Besides that, you need to have info on what numbers to call n block your CCs - if you can't access your laptop/PC.

Such info - in encrypted n password protected format - must be there in your email box/cloud (which should NOT have auto access from your lost phone).

Think about the exact steps... To analyse how well you are prepared.

There is no quick solution as of now. The only viable solution is to call from someone's number to the bank and freeze the cards.

I also thought this scenario for an year. Not for the lost perspective but what happens if you want to do a payment and there is no mobile network or you can't access to the mobile network. I only came out to one solution. We all now there are various third party 2FA codes generator, if bank incorporate them for the 2FA codes then we can use it without a mobile network. We can access the code through multiple devices and after login into the NetBanking we can freeze the account in case the cards are lost. By the way I don't know why any banks do not incorporate these as of now. Few banks have their own 2FA app but I heard that app was also not work flawlessly. So incorporating third party app will be good.

Go to the telecom store > get a duplicate sim
Call the banks > temporary block all my cards
Getting a duplicate SIM. Have copies of Aadhaar n PAN cards ? Will take a few hours to get a replacement SIM n getting it activated. What about a new device. None of the banking Apps will work on a new device just like that.

Need to have all the customer care numbers of all your bank accounts n CCs. In a readily accessable way.

First step should be get ready to wipe data from your existing device with the help of any person available with a smartphone.

Secondly call network provider to block sim card.

Third stay calm & reach your destination.

Forth after arrival go for the nearest carrier provider store & ask for replacement sim card, they will do biometrics and give you simcard at cost of Rs 50-100 depends on store, there you can ask for a mobile to check and pay or buy a phone from them of course of less than 5k as you will not be able to transact more than 5k after registering your new phone on any banking app, if buying a good phone then you have to use NEFT/IMPS.

Fifth if you need cash you can ask for the shopkeeper with the amount transferred to them according to your need.

ALL SORTED THANKS.

For blocking/freezing of CCs/DCs, almost all of them expect you to call them from your registered phone number. A few banks ALSO have a separate reporting number for reporting such loss/theft of CCs/DCs.
You need to have access to the related info - along with the CC/DC numbers n related security/verification details.

I don't think you have to call from the registered mobile number. Everytime they will ask few question to verify your details.

One can use password manager where they can save the card details (even in laptop).

I keep all card details and the customer care numbers on drive.

So, first thing, access the cloud. Download the file, delete it, and block the cards, then if possible 'find my device' and erase all the data using find my device

Pre requisites:
Make sure you don't carry too many cards in wallet else its a lot of hassle.
Also make sure cards present in wallet has all international transactions are disabled by default may be except one if absolutely required.
Make sure mobile has privacy settings not see otp SMS on lock screen.

If we are in India, we have a trusted partner/ close friend who will help with UPI to stranger to get some extra cash to survive.
Request stranger to give his phone to call to banks to hotlist cards.

If international transactions are disabled, we are generally safe in india as everything requires PIN/OTP.

But in international scenario, when we lost our cards, wallet and phone together, I couldn't even think of proper foolproof way. We have to be in the mercy of good people there.

This becomes more tricky when travelling internationally.

My wallet was once stolen and transactions were attempted but luckily all got blocked :relieved-face:
All banks n CC issuers have SPECIAL numbers - all based in many foriegn countries - to report such loss while traveling in such countries.

Need to note down such numbers n keep them handy.

This is a very scary situation as he has access to email and sim both and he can change email password. Can get even more scarier if it occurs in foreign country. Best first thing would be to wipe the phone

Now it makes sense why some people have every notification displayed as message received apart from Privacy concerns. For me, every message including OTP can be read even when the phone is locked. Imagine swipe one card, OTP received. The ones who stole will have a good time

Bro, I think you turn on the transaction with full limit,

Try to make a practise of turning the limit to minimum and always increase when you need and then decrease it to minimum again, this will also help if you have a loss then it will be not more than 5k (if you have 5 cards assuming).
