I am a bit confused about when does the cibil hard enquiry happens.
I know if we check cibil ratings through different means that's a soft enquiry.
But if we are going to a particular bank site and enter pan card details to check the eligibility of cards will that cause a hard enquiry or will it also be a soft enquiry?
Sorry for the noobish question. New to the world of credit cards

When u apply online before any bank show the card u r eligible the system will do a hard fetch
Offline differs sometimes agents will take cibil first hand or banks will do before assigning limit which no one aware and varies bank to bank

if you ask for credit card: hard enquiry.
if bank offers you credit card (variant known and limit mentioned): no hard enquiry.

conceptually, if someone is actively looking for loans/credit ("credit hungry", as the banks like to call it), that results in a hard enquiry.

of course there are exceptions and enquiries are at the discretion of the bank, but generally the above system is followed.

Hmm. Just looking to get info about what ltf cards are available was the reason. I have been getting some messages that i am eligible for the banks credit card but they don't mention which one so wanted to know which one. Was confused if that would cause a hard query but understood that in this case also it's a hard query. Thanks for the information
