sorry for lengthy question.
My parents will be staying in mumbai for 11 nights (budget 2.5 to 3 lakh)
Options near by in my budget are
  1. Taj lands end
  2. ITC grand central (Club ITC)
  3. Sofitel (An Accor hotel)
  4. St Regis (Marriott)
I have all memberships(basic), but can i get loyalty points/ or any tier upgrades for booking for my parents.

Thanks.

I don’t think so as u r not staying the member should be staying at the hotel to get the points and nights credited. But u can still check with others

Ok couple of questions:
1. By "loyalty points", are you talking about the regular points (earned by staying/dining/transferring), and not tier/status points (which take someone from low to gold/plat)?
2. Do your parents not have accounts in any of the ones you mentioned above?

If answer is yes to both, I would then suggest to try out Marriott referral program.
TL;DR:
Your parents can earn MB points (+bonuses), later you can transfer them to your account for free. Tweak the bookings a bit to maximize the returns😉.

If you want nights credited, I still think Marriott is your best bet, but it is completely against their T&C.

PS: Since you mentioned the likes of St Regis and Sofitel, I would recommend checking out if this Hotelux offer makes sense to you. It just books the Travel Advisor rates (the guest gets the loyalty points and the person booking gets Hotelux points). Apparently you can book for others as well (although haven't personally tried this out). My experience with them so far has been smooth.

Create your father's account. Let him stay with his name. Later on you can do the booking for yourself using his points.

With Marriott, you can transfer his points to your account

I did this once, my relatives were coming to stay in aerocity Delhi and I was on the hook to book a room for them, so I booked it under my name, checked in and gave the keys to them.
Got all the nights and points, but it's only possible when ur in the same city.

Go with MB for the points which I personally find useless maybe just book using a credit card which gives you good reward points, I don't believe there is a way to get the nights or tier upgrade unless somehow you have the same names

Thanks for the detailed replies.I created marriott account with my parent's name and made reservation.
(Sorry for delay in my reply.)
