Whose responsibility is it if the auto-debit fails?

Pankhuri

My first SBI credit card has auto-debit facility. I usually keep more than the statement bill amount in that account, as I use it as my main small UPI transactions too. My due date was yesterday and as usual I had more than the statement amount in the account. But strangely there was no pull from SBI's side. I never got any SMS that amount would be debited too. Early morning I checked my bank balance and there was no debit. So I paid the required amount.

My questions

1) Will it come up as non-payment in the cibil report?

2) Can I do something to make it not appear as non-payment on cibil report? I have all the documents which show that bank balance was more than the required.

3) Is it a possibility that auto-debit facility is closed on my account? I got a 2nd SBI card last month and iirc I opted out of auto-debit facility on that card. Could it be that I have been opted out of it for the previous card too? I usually receive SMS about the amount that would be debited on due date 2-3 days before the due date, this month, I got nothing.

When Auto Debit is on , You should avoid mannual Payments.

I have seen Many people who ultimately pay dishonour charges to both Bank and Card issuer just because they did Mannual Payment.

This is applicable for Loan EMI too.
Twitter is full of such cases.

Loan EMI Due date is 3rd and and people Pay EMI on 2nd or 3rd via Third Party Apps.

When Auto debit hit the Account, Bank charge dishonour Charges and Loan Provider too charge Dishonour Charges and People starts Badmouthing on social Media Paltforms about both Bank and Loan Provider, when they are not at fault.
Right..And again if anyone want to make payment manually then atleast make payment before 8 to 10 days from payment due date in this case Auto Pay will not triggered. If you pay before less than one week then your auto pay will be triggred and if amount is not available in account then you have to pay auto pay dishonour charges no matter you have made payment earlier.Thats how the Auto pay system works.

See if anyone want to keep autopay and they are in habbit of making payment also then for them best thing is to keep auto pay on minimum amount due..

There won't be any charges on the bank's side.

In SBI's case, making a payment 5 days before the due date is fine. Auto-debit takes such payments into account. Same goes for refunds. If the refund is credited 5 days before the due date, it is taken into account. Have had this happen in the past too. For some reason auto debit didn't take this refund into account.
Thanks for the clarification, my case was kind of helpless, didn't really think I was supposed to pay anything in the first place

I plan to setup auto pay to pay my CC dues.

For example,

Bill generated date: 16-jul-2023
Bill due date: 5th august 2023

Bill amount: 10,000

Amount I manually paid without auto pay on17th july 2023 (mostly): 10,000 (I usually pay 1 day after bill generation charges)

If for some reason like i am on travel etc , I cannot pay the bill amount by 25th july, will auto pay kick in and fail stating that amount already paid manually? Or Auto pay will automatically pay another 10,000? Also any charges on the same if any????

In your case auto pay will not triggered....As you have paid your bill already on 17 jul 2023.

Please let me know if auto pay works for the scenario below:
HDFC CC auto pay on HDFC SB account - I presume it would work
AXIS CC auto pay on HDFC SB account - will this work and not trigger in the above case?

Auto pay fetches latest unpaid bill amount within approx 3 days before the bill due date and the same amount is set in system for payment.

For second case if Axis bill pay supports the auto pay for CC then it works...In my opinion it will work.
