The hotel room must be booked in the name of the person who is staying. They require ID proof. I am not sure if you can book one some one else name in Agoda.

Also if you are booking Marriott using other party websites, they may not give Marriott points. It happened to me last week.

I got lucky this May when I booked 2N in Marriott for my friend.
Day 1 points booking.
Day 2 revenue booking.
