Drsel's advice
1. Ideally Yes Marquee should be used only for online spends and the points earned should be redeemed for flights or hotels or any voucher that available at 0.25p.

2. Ideally Yes Reserve 3x should be used only for online spends and the points earned should be redeemed for flights or hotels.

3. Yes Reserve 5x has the highest return of all Yes Bank cards, provided you have a lot of expenses in hospital bills, doctors fees, diagnostic tests (blood test, x-ray, CT scan, MRI etc.), medicines, travel (including online travel agents), luxury fashion brands.

Ideally Yes Reserve 5x should be used only for online spends in all the above categories, and the points earned should be redeemed for flights/hotels.

4. For all spends, if possible, ask the merchant to send a payment link by SMS, email or WhatsApp, so that you can pay online instead of offline to get the extra 2.25% (Marquee) or extra 1.5%.(Reserv 3x and 5x)

Any opinions on yes subscription plan devaluation in next 1-2 years? I wondering if I should stay with Yes Reserv 3x or Request for LTF upgrade to Marquee.

Recently saw one guy on X getting Marquee LTF just by no activation trick without any spends on 6 months old reserv card. In my case, I have good spends as well as larger time period, so chances are more.

If I compare Yes Reserv 3x Online spends with Yes Marquee for saying 10L spends, there is difference of 60000 reward points valued around 12000 INR after recent devaluations.

Subscription cost is 4130 and BMS BOGO 3x vs 25% offer difference would be around say 150x3x12 = 5400. Lounges and Golfs are not really worth it. 0.75% Forex markup benefits is there, but not considering it right now. So, I still see a net profit of about 2500 with Yes Reserv 3x over Marquee.

All this is assuming no further devaluations on subscription plan. So, any opinions on this @helloworld ? The plan seem to be stable since last 5-6 months and points also seem to be coming properly since 5-6 months.
But with 10 lacs spends you can easily get nearly 11% return on Magnus Burgundy, so why do you need to pay subscription for yes Reserve 3x?

mostly might add 2-3 more categories but otherwise its stable. I'm hoping they might kept some more restrictions with redemption like 50%.

Chances for LTF Marquee depends on luck, can't say anything, it may or maynot happen for anyone.

Till then I believe subscription is better compared to direct marquee.

Ok, if not charged in that statement, then no charges mostly.
My new statement generated. No charges for redemption. So, seems it wasn't implemented properly till last month.

But now, they have added this processing fee in yes rewards site itself along with the new 70-30 rule.

So, if flight fare is 5000, total becomes 5117 and u need to pay 70% of 5117 using 14328 points and rest 1535 using card.

For vouchers, I still don't see the 50-50 rule being implemented at least for swiggy one with reserv, even though I see the text saying about 50% redemption. So, if the same works with Marquee with 0.25 per point as well, as redemption for flights doesn't seem beneficial with the 70-30 rule, then that is one more motivation to try for LTF Marquee upgrade.

Yes this voucher area where marquee shines now, but its under gray have to wait 2 -3 months to settle things.

So what is the return % of Marquee Reserv 3x and 5x if you use--
1) 70% points to buy air tickets
2) 50% points to buy Swiggy cash

it won't increase. and only last batch (when you close credit card or points expiry) affect this "magical complicated numbers".

something like this..

so, based on this too "reality far different than estimation".

its still 6% and 9% for online spends.

As the percentage utilization of points reduces, the return will also reduce proportionately--

100% utilization of points gives 6% and 9% return
70% utilization of points gives 5.65% and 8.48% return
50% utilization of points gives ? return
25% utilization of points gives ? return
0% utilization of points gives ZERO % return

So are you saying that if they allow 100% points utilisation or 10% point utilization, the return will remain the same 6% and 9% ???

There is a mathematical formula to calculate the reduction in benefit (return) when the points allowed to be used reduces drastically.

Obviously If they allow only 5% utilization of points, then the return % will fall drastically, even if the value of the point remains the same

As mentioned only last batch affect the return % and we may never know when it will be (be it card closure, reward expirty etc.).

Till then 100% = 0.25p still there, it all depends on person how they see this extra amount they pay (30%), whether to include in calculation but that may also provide extra rewards that also need to be included.

These are all complicated and unnecessary IMO, for peace of mind it provides 6% to 9% as earning opportunity.

Redemption depends on where we redeem and %.

Yes I am only referring to redemption for booking flights.
I am hundred percent sure that when the point utilisation percentage is reduced dramatically,
the return percentage will also fall proportionately by a complex mathematical formula

The reduction in percentage utilisation is done purposely and purposefully to reduce the customers benefit (return %)

Obviously, banks here to earn profit from us. We only have to find a way to minimize the loss.

It is all about how much effort u put and get discounts at other places.

If I consider 15% discount on flights and don't consider the lower convinience fee for simplifying calculation (117 in comparison to 300-400 at most other places). Also, for simplicity, I am referring 4 points as 1 point. The 6% gets 5.1% even with 100% utilisation.

So, if earlier u were savings 85 rs with 100 points, now with 70-30 rules, u r savings 85-30+5.1% of 30 = 56.5 using 70 points. 56.5/70x100 is 80.7%. so, the 0.85 multiplier gets down to 0.8 here. I.e 5.1% is down to 4.8%.

So, 4.5/6/9 percent was earlier 3.8/5.1/7.65 with 100% usage and now 3.6/4.8/7.2 with 70-30, assuming u get 15% discount on flights and same convinience fee as yes bank 117. If course, actual would be different. There r plenty of variables like international flights usually have 10% discount only and convinience fee on other portals goes upto 1000-1500. Discount gets capped around most 1000-2000 for most card offers.

If u will do same calculation assuming no discount at all, then there won't be any change is percentage value.

Again do same calculation for swiggy vouchers only for Marquee, as it is anyway not worth for other cards. Let's say swiggy voucher is available at 10% discount. So earlier u were getting 0.9 per point value. The 4.5% becomes 4.05% here. With 50-50 rule, u will save 90-50+2= 42 rs using 50 points. So, the 0.9 multiplier is down to 0.84 here. I.e. 4.05% gets down to 3.78%.

Very good analysis and calculation but how 15% discount on flights?
I was calculating 12% discount on flights

Read the first line.

15% is just an example. It can be zero for some people, who just book directly from airline website without any discount or 24% for people like u (Forgot ur favourite card) and even higher for people looking for occasional festival offers.
