Eligibility Criteria for ICICI Emeralde Private Metal - Discussion

Something awkward happened with me...
That's not an awkward one. EPM rang your door bell.
Virtual RM called me asking if I was interested in ICICI Emeralde Private Metal. I said sure. He pinged me a couple of mins back stating, he sent it to state head for approval.
Current relationship is a salary account with them from 2010. APay, Sapphiro, Coral, OD account. No loans or anything.

He asked me if i get all approvals and card is delivered, will i be able to start using their demat account. I said fine.
Congratulations BTW.

My ICICI Emeralde Private Metal CC just got approved.

As HDFC were not giving me any core CC let's alone infinia even though I have salary account with them from last 6 yrs apart from Tata neu infinity which I got through Tata neu app. Reason being my startup is not listed in HDFC database.

I decided to move to ICICI as my corporate has tie-up with them. I got wealth salary account opened through corporate and asked the person came for account opening for EPM eligibility. He mentioned that I should be eligible for it based on my salary but will confirm by taking to BM.

After my 1st salary got credit in ICICI next month, I again messaged him on WhatsApp for update. He told we can start the procedure and after too and fro for 18 days finally it's approved 🎉 🎉
Pretty straight forward. ICICI is targeting Corporate salary accounts with and around 3L net salary per month.

Once upon a time that was the premium card from them and there was a time when people tried well to get that card.
And there was a time when Diamant credit card was offered for 1.47L joining fee and 0.75% reward rate for spends within India and preferential rates on rentals at hand-picked exotic islands . 😀
ICICI seems to have come a long way!

For Diamant, MacBook Air was provided as one of welcome benefits
Yeah, that was welcome benefits. Remember one person on forum having it.

Back then 1,47L was out of reach. But now there are many show can spend that for a super premium card.

I don't think there's any card in India worth 1.5L a year or even for joining fee given the benefits

I am wondering if a bank launches a card with fee of 150k, what benefits they should give to avoid the disaster like TB.

Joining benefit of free car on ex-showroom price.
Reward rate of 50% to 100%.
Private jet classes…..
Amex Centurion levies astronomical joining and annual fees . I think Centurion holders don't worry about them anyway .

Yeah, all they care is service. No preset Limit and worries. Just one card that can be recognized any where and powerful tool within hands.

Centurion is a different league. Their Concierge service isn't like our Indian banks, it's par excellence. Even if you have pots and pots of money you wouldnt get it unless you fulfil its eligibility criteria. If offers exclusive lifestyle benefits and perks. It's meant for the people who don't care bout reward rate but lifestyle...it's reward rate is just 1 point per 100 Rs afaik.

epm approval New
Update: My epm got approved today!

I was trying to get it from mid-Feb. Took a solid 2 months to get approved!

The process to get EPM is complicated and different from all other Icici credit cards. First you have to get 3-4 approvals, Branch Manager, Regional Head, Sales Head, State Head. State Head approval is hardest to get. After approval RM or cc agent will apply for the credit card. If you apply the credit card before the approvals, your application will simply be withdrawn after few weeks.

I went to 3 branches, only for RMs to promise EPM and then ghost my calls after a week. Who helped me in the end was a corporate RM. For some reason it is easier for them to secure approvals, as has been the case in multiple stories in this post.

I contacted this particular RM on April 1st. Took them 2.5 weeks to get required approvals. Then the rest of the process took 3 working days. So clearly getting approvals is the hardest step.

While I did have a wealth account, I am now confident it is a very weak requirement for EPM, if at all. CL > 10L helps. Salary > 3L is almost a must. I say almost because my salary for last few months was slightly lesser than 3, yet this cc got approved. I have also heard people getting approved it with as low as 2.5L. You never know.

So yes Tl dr; If you have >3L pm net salary, keep trying and with a bit of luck you will get it. Definitely do not require to meet the shitty 50k per month PPOP criteria (I mean, who even meets this criteria). If >2.5L, it’s tricky; maybe negotiate hard.
