Amex MRCC effective cashback of 10% for first year!

So I applied for Amex MRCC via referral and did some calculation. Since it's free for first year, all the points will be counted towards the profit
I purchase 4 Amazon gift cards of 1500 each to earn 1000 points every month. I'll also get 2 points per 100 so in 1 year I'll get 1120*12 = 13,440 points

I also received 2000 points as I applied via someone's referral, plus I confirmed with Amex team that I'll also receive 4000 points if I spend 15,000 Rs in first 90 days

So total points = 13,440 + 4000 + 2000
= 19,440 points

Out of these, I'll purchase 7000 Amazon voucher using 18k silver collection and remaining 1440 points I'll redeem for cash (360 Rs)
So for 72,000 spent in 1 year I'll get 7,360 rs

That's almost 10.2% cashback! And I use Amazon pay for my Uber rides, Zepto orders and Playo bookings so it's very easy to spend that money

Will see if this card is still effective after paying the annual fees. But for first year I'm using this card like this. I also calculated for for 20k bonus points but that doesn't give this much cashback. And since offline acceptance of this card is very low it's difficult to spend 20k/month for me using this card. Let me know if anyone uses this card in such a way to earn even better cashback

I didn't get any joining benefit but I got 2k points for referral.

I spent around 1.5 lac in the first 3 months, called Amex to make it LTF. Instead they gave me a offer to make my SE card LTF and 2nd year free on MRCC.

I think on 1.5 lac, second year anyways becomes free as fee waiver criteria is net. But yeah SE free is good.

Basically on taking amex via referral you get two joining benefit
1. 2k points on spending 5k within 30 days
2. More 2k points on spending 25k in 90 days.
This is for MRCC card, not sure about other.

It seems like you've got this in reverse order. 🤭 Here's the correct order:

1. Earn 2k MR points by spending 5k within 90 days.
2. Get an additional 1k MR points when you spend 20k or more in a month.

I just connected with Amex customer care, they just confirmed this --- we get an additional 2k mr points as a welcome benefit on spending 25k in the first 90 days of card membership.
Although they have not advertised this bonus milestone anywhere in the website for cards through refrral

agreed, other banks first they loop us for an hour, by chance we connect with cc, there is no guarantee if they can even handle our query. While amex provided instant support on chat and with a knowlegeable cc with instant to the point resolution

10k points are only on paying joining fee. But most people take via referral in that case you get 0 joining fee and 2k points (which is better imo)
