Pro Tips-

Simple way to make Any basic to mid range SBI card LTF is to "Just raise a closure of card account request through Sbi card app .After few hours you will receive a call to ask a reason for cancellation ,there tell them Either make it Life time free or cancel the card.They will make your Card LTF.Done on my both sbi card and now both are LTF.Service request to make your card LTF is taken as PCT id is to be changed.You can check in service request tracking menu.

Caution:-If you holding multiple cards of SBI then kindly do this process at one card at a time only.Do on other card after at least month. If at any point SBI Card is not agreeing on LTF and offering you Annual Fee waivers only then Accept Fee waivers at that moment and Apply the same trick Again after 1 or 2 months for LTF.
IF ANYONE HAVING ANY SPECEFIC CONCERN THEN DO DM.

Edit 1-If afterall anyone missed the call from retention team then they can simply call customer care and there simply tell them to connect/transfer you call to retention team as i want to discuss regarding my card closure request.They will connect you to their retention team and now there you can project the above trick to get your card LTF ..


Edit 2(09 July 2023)-Even people have made sbi cards having fee upto 1499 LTF and even higher varriant cards you will get equivalent reward points or miles or annual fee waiver in place of LTF.

Edit 3(15 October 2023)- Even people have made their SBI cashback credit card LTF by their skill of negotiation.

Edit 4-Now a days SBI Cards sometime,closing the card without calling so suggest now dont place request through app by self .Call customer care directly and ask them for LTF/fee waivers or to transfer the call to retention team for doing the same.

call karke bhai, outstanding zero karke call karna, otherwise retention team ko call transfer hi ni krte vo log. app se mat karna request closure, bohot baar call miss ho jata hai and we don't get the chance to negotiate with them.

11 baar gaytri mantra bolke karna call, and mostly fee reversal to mil hi jata hai, agar thk thak spends honge apke card pe to. If it is your lucky day then LTF too. All the best.

so my sbi cb renewal is on 24th October so i called today and first 2 attempt same 2L spend and then during feedback i gave 2 out of 5, i forget SBI call you if given less star so i'm like i need retention offer so she is like there is offer for you so call once fees is charged and call us and fees will be reversed in the app annual fees reversal isn't there though.

I hold SBI CASHBACK credit card from Oct 2022. Had spent approx 2.5 lakhs per year and easily reached annual fee waiver criteria. But this year just before annual charge date, thought to try for LTF conversion.
On 7th October, sent a mail to customer service head mail id, requesting for LTF conversion with details of long relationship and good spends per year.
On 10th October, received a mail regarding reconsidering my decision of card closer request which obviously I didn't made.
On same day, received another email confirming the request for LTF conversion.
Finally,
On 16th October, Received a mail confirming that LTF conversion is successful.
I didn't thought things will go that smooth especially with SBI.

Well, if you are already satisfying 2L fee waiver for 2 years then SBI can easily make your card LTF.

I got LTF within 18 months..May be 4 or 5 lakh spends..
No hard and fast rules.
System generates LTF offer based on the spends and age..
There wont be any human intervention...

We need to keep checking with customer support every 6 months or so...

Dont do card replacement or anything which changes card number, I had 10yrs CC history with SBI, They converted my card to LTF.

One day, due to suspected transaction my card was blocked and a replacement issued.

As card number changed, LTF gone. I requested many times to customer team, but they were not getting any LTF offer to process, and card is chargeable now.

Due to non usage of SBI cards, got all my SBI cards closed.

I have got 3-4 cards only after expiry across banks, I got same card no. with changed CVV and new expiry date. Last I remember was yes-bank.
