Incorrect, FYF is only for super savings account variant, not for all.

My dad has advantage account. He hasn't been charged. It's been 10 months already since I got the card.

Now that I think about, his old debit card has never been charged aswell.
But I checked account variant, it is advantage.

You are definitely missing something, is it salary account? Or was it downgraded from salary?
Or you recently downgraded from super saving to advantage?
T&C of advantage variant doesn't state anything like FYF as far as I remember.

Nope, it is normal savings account. Never was salary.
The account is 10+ years old.
He has loan accounts too, does that affect? Does maintaining high MAB affect?

Maybe something back there was free.
This is pretty common in PSBs. Like for example, recently (2-3 years) SBI introduced this 6 months password reset thingy where people have to reset their both (login/profile) passwords every 6 months.
But mine account is 7 years old, and till today I have not been asked to reset it. Very strange, I don't know why I am excluded. Same goes for my mother account, hers is also very old.
Anyways, great if there is no fees in your dad's account. Enjoy the benefits 😂
Nonetheless, for majority. DCs are only FYF for super saving accounts then there will be fees for renewals.
