Need suggestion for my friend.
He has only myzone fd based credit card. It's almost 4+months since he took the credit card.
He already has axis savings account from March 2025 . He is not getting any pre-approved unsecured credit card offer because of this secured card.

1)Should he close the fd backed card to get unsecured cadd???
2) Should he need to open a PAY LATER to maintain his credit history if he close this fd card?? (not interested to take any other bank fd card anymore)
3) if he close his fd card within how many months the pre-approved offer starts to appear??

He has only this secured card in his portfolio no any other loan or cards. Not interested to take any other bank fd card also. He really need a unsecured card now. But it's getting rejected by axis while applying. Please give your suggestions.

Loans r an asset to them due to processing fees and interest, while for CCs they have to spend money giving all those cashbacks. so they will push loan offers more than their CCs (even to bsbda customers) . Same with HDFC. They r ready to give me huge loans but not 5k limit increase even after 1 year of regular use. Ur Credit profile is very good. Very unusual to see Axis denying preapproved CCs to SA holders with such good credit profiles.(unless there is some error in ur customer id in their system)
I did some research and I found that I am getting all kind of similar hints before CC offer, so waiting for a refresh from axis, may be I will get my CC offer soon

Sharing a quick hack. I got my Axis Flipkart Credit Card in March 2023 with just a ₹15K limit (my 2nd unsecured CC after ICICI Amazon Pay with ₹1.5L in the same month). I used the FK card regularly till Jan 2024, keeping utilization around 80% for 3–4 months. During that time, Axis kept rejecting my other card applications, and I had zero pre-approved offers.

Then, in Jan 2024, I applied for the MyZone LTF C2C via an offline agent, which got rejected the very next day, but surprisingly, my FK card limit shot up to ₹2.1L (that’s 14x!). Soon after, all cards started showing under pre-approved offers, and I finally got MyZone LTF in March 2024.

So, you never really know what Axis might do sometimes, all this happens without even submitting any income documents!

Is all that happens after reducing the utilisation??

But before 2023 you have your LTF airtel axis credit card. Right?

Offers totally depend on your profile and usage pattern. What worked for me might not work for you, and vice versa. It’s all about learning and experimenting along the way. There’s no guidebook or magic formula you can just copy-paste and expect 100% results.

No, August 2023

Are you sure?
I think his cibil will be down by few points or it will be same till next enquiry or additions of any Card or loan
Cibil will drop for sure if u close ur oldest CC/loan. Thats y if ur oldest CC is much older than ur 2nd oldest CC then it is always better to keep it open.

By ‘lose,’ I mean the continuity in your CIBIL history will be affected.
If you have two cards and close the first one, the second will continue the credit history.

Yes
closing his only card will harm the cibil history. Better to wait only? Is it possible to get icici platinum card as Amazon pay icici invitation is not yet visible
