What is bank reward system abuse ? don't Indians have civic sense in this too ?

In your opinion, using the reward system for personal use is not abuse. Then why are you sharing the tricks with others on various forums.
Here inviting other users to take part in a certain task to get benefits is not abuse?

If you think obtaining a debit card and sharing it's benefits with others is not correct. Buyer is getting the benefit for less than market price and seller reward from bank. Both satisfied in this case.

Both scenarios are not to be considered abuse. How are you different from others?
I share whatever tricks I share only for your personal use.

In fact, whether it's wallet loading and transferring to a bank or using any app, I always say to use your own personal KYC — never someone else’s.

As for the matter of GV, banks also give those for personal use, not for anyone else.

Whoever wants it can simply open their own bank account and apply for a card — simple.

Banks don’t give benefits so that a few selected people take the offers and then distribute them to others.

Banks want everyone to join them and as long as they can afford it, they give offers to everyone so that each person directly benefits from the bank’s offer.

Even in a bank’s offer T&Cs, it is always written that it’s for personal use only.

For example you get a gift voucher as benefit for milestone spends which are not regular spends but created with MCC.
If it is amazon pay voucher then most of us redeem for personal use.
Useless voucher like Croma. He will sell it to someone else, is this abuse?

Similarly RSDC benefits like Prime, Hotstar, Lakme etc. If that person does not find it useful, he will sell it to someone else. What's wrong here?

If something isn’t useful for you, then simply don’t redeem it.

Apply for a card only for the things you actually need.

Look, there are two simple points:

Just because you are getting something for free doesn’t mean you must use it somehow — even if that means selling it to others.

And this is what ā€˜civic sense’ means. Not me — the whole world says that Indians don’t have 'civic sense'.

Use the card milestone benefits only when the gift vouchers you receive can be used for your own personal needs.

Second, and most important:

Some people may argue that they want to recover their card’s fee. They took the card for personal use but still aren’t recovering the money, so they sell gift vouchers to cover the cost.

Well, even to such people — I’m not talking about those people. My post wasn’t for those people.

I am talking about those who have taken 25, 50, 75 or even 200 cards and have basically started a buy-and-sell business. I am talking about those people.

So, everyone needs to have one bank account and credit card?

Look at IDFC First bank, many opened the account for transacting with zero charges. Some for debit card RPs.
Many credit cards are taken for cashback benefits and not based on needs.
Customer selects product based on benefits and not needs. Many like me use RSDC benefits for insurance and misc expenses.

For example, there's a working professional earning good salary. He should not opt SBI cashback card because he has enough money?
That's not right, everyone wants to save money while spending for investments or future use.

Just because you are getting something for free doesn’t mean you must use it somehow — even if that means selling it to others.

I totally disagree with this, free mein kaun de raha hain. It's an account or card holder, paid the annual fee, done relevant spends. Rupay is providing these benefits to gain market share. The customers are utilizing the card because of these perks, aap without any benefits ₹1200 pe rupay zindagi bolke card annual fees pay karne ke liye tayaar hain?

This is not a relevant topic to talk about civic sense.

That's wrong information. 99% of the users apply RSDC for the vouchers and not as a regular debit card to recover fees.
I'm not sure if it is possible to get 50 cards, but even then there's nothing wrong. I don't know why you're against selling vouchers.

Leave it, our perspectives just don’t align.
Your perspectives do not align with anyone here or with Article 19(1)(g) of Hon. Constitution of India.

"These offers are meant for personal use. Banks gain customers, their market share increases, and they earn from people who keep money in their savings accounts.

But when people start trading these offers with others, that’s called abusing the bank’s reward system."

No. Banks don't care what an account holder does with his vouchers. We are happy to see them get sold and used rather than getting expired. We earn commissions on usage not on expiry.

When someone trades or sells a voucher, he/she helps the bank generate revenues and profits. He/she also helps the buyer by offering vouchers at 50-90% discount to the reward value. Voucher issuer also gains at it wins large transactions and new customers. Win-win for all.

Reg ur HDFC example, EDD karega to account khul jayega. Fir kare aaram se wallet load and pay. šŸ™‚

Banks have to pay for every voucher that gets redeemed.

If someone redeems an Amazon Prime voucher, the bank has to pay a ₹1,499 fee.

Now imagine this across 10,000 customers. If 10,000 cards are issued and out of them 1,000 customers don’t redeem the Amazon Prime voucher, the bank is even happier because the customers paid the card fee but didn’t redeem many vouchers.

That way, the bank can run the offer for a longer time.

Banks want customers to take the most expensive cards, use rewards and gift vouchers as little as possible and give the bank maximum profit.

An interesting fact — now banks, to save their money, have made arrangements with gift voucher companies so that if a customer redeems a gift voucher but doesn’t use it and it expires, the company refunds the voucher amount back to the bank.

Actually, this didn’t happen earlier. These days customers are causing so many losses to banks that banks have had to change their agreements. And since the customer base has increased, earlier only a few customers used to leave gift vouchers unused, so banks didn’t care. But now, if customers don’t redeem gift vouchers or leave them unused, the banks are happy, under the new agreement, bank receive refunds.

Now banks even do audits after 6 months or 1 year and take back extra reward points that were given — even on debit cards, they have started reversing rewards worth just ₹100 after 6 months to 1 year.

No. We get paid.

"If someone redeems an Amazon Prime voucher, the bank has to pay a ₹1,499 fee."

😹😹😹😹😹 Amazon pays us for each sign up. Unke liye long term hota hain ek 1499. Since most customers don't cancel.

"Even debit" card rewards were always cancelled after expiry date.

Itne confidently galat info kaise share kar lete ho bhai? 😹😹😹😹😹😹😹

Jo jo bankers hain ya gift card/voucher companies waale Hain sab has rahe hain is baat pe ki "banks have to pay". Voucher deals are wildly advantageous for us. More they redeem, the merrier. Every unredeemed voucher is a massive loss for us and the issuer.

I strongly believe in karma and you ALWAYS get the fal of your karma

You or karta might not realize it now thinking I will just close the card how will I get my fal... I will just get the benefit

But you ALWAYS get the fal

Just one scenario.. User a didn't study hard or anything just looted rewards and made lakhs in his teenage years... User b was ethical or just not involved in rewards... He studied hard to get money any money in future

Fast forward 20 years...

Banks systems have evolved... User a has been blacklisted by many banks.. He didn't bother to study became arrogant as he was the only one with money at his early age... But now he has nowhere to go... Why?

KARMA. Don't cry when you get the phal. Do better KARMA.

If you are a gen alpha or teenager reading this please don't think karma is an outdated or abstract thing. Learn about it or better think about it, You know within what is good and bad karma... You just choose to ignore it for your own comfort

Please feel free to ignore it but don't cry later on when you get the deserved phal. Watch Kurukshetra on Netflix if you don't know anything about Indian history and learnings from it. Will put you on right start for your learning journey
