I am a victim of Financial fraud in the name of sbi card's Nodal officer -Lost 5000Rs

I got a call from a person named karan sharma pretending to be from sbi card nodal officer from +91 9508189953 on 24/11/2025. He called me by mentioning about the mail which I sent on 22nd November 2025 with nodal officer of sbi cards. I already sent a mail to nodal officer of sbi credit card on 22/11/2025 via mail related to the sbi BPCL card concern. So this fraud person informed me that he called me based on the mail received from my end on 22/11/2025.

Regarding the concern which I sent to nodal, he asked me which resolution I want, whether the fee Reversal or converting the card to sbi BPCL octane Lifetime free . So regarding the conversion to sbi BPCL octane lifetime free of my SBI BPCL normal card he asked me to do some procedures in official sbi portal on" https://crcf.bank.sbi/ccf" by raising the request by mentioning my concern related to the conversion of my sbi card to Lifetime free .He told me to enter the complaint as it infomed by him as" I am raising a request to upgrade my sbi BPCL rupay card ending with XXXX under the ltf mode as per bank records. Kindly accept the enach for SBI BPCL octane rupay variant as LTF with reference id XYZX( IMT sms code for Cash withdrawal) /24/11/2025 ( date)".
He created this thread just to get the IMT sms code only . He asked me to do a transaction in sbi yono app or any other bank account to get this reference id. IMT(Instant Money Transfer)sms code along with the date as made me belief that it was a reference id .


He asked me to open AXIS MOBILE app --> payment & transfer ---> IMT. He asked me to register the payee as myself by using my mobile number. He Asked me to set Transaction pin as the last 4 digit of the concerned sbi card which was already known by him at the time of placing this IMT request in axis mobile app. He asked me to do a 5000 transaction in my axis Bank savings account under IMT Instant money transfer. And informed me the amount will transfer within you as you already registered your number as the payee only. I trusted him .

So using the IMT sms code received and shared with the discription in sbi bank official portal and using Transaction pin , the fraud person can easily withdraw the 5000 from any RBL ,Axis Bank ,Bank of India Kotak ,PNB ATMs as mentioned in IMT sms message received . He told me that the 5000 will be held as lien in sbi credit card and post converting the card to sbi BPCL rupay octane variant the amount will be credited back. But he already got the sms code to withdraw the money. He disconnected the call I called immediately on the number. But it was switched off. Then I came to know that I am a victim of a fraud.

Then I immediately called axis Bank on same day 24th November 2025 and registered a fraud complaint. And called cyber crime portal and registered the complaint for the same. Also registered a complaint with sbi card. Bank today closed the complaint by stating that it's a secured transaction done from my end and the responsibility on me only. I just got surprised how intelligently he took the IMT SMS code from me. By asking me to read the whole content in the sbi portal before submitting. So he could get the IMT code. Very smart approch where no traces of account transfer to any other, There is no ATM withdrawal using their account. Simply enter the code and get the cash. Saala ..!!!! I took his address which is fake and today the mobile number was out of service.

Be very very careful. I really surprised how that rascal got my mail content details which I sent to nodal officer directly?? Any sbi cards information breach?? How he got my mobile number by stating the issue .
He might be a person in this community also. So be careful while sharing any single piece of personal information in public...!!!
Any hope from sbi card end??? From cyber cell?
 
These people are either ex employee or they have partner in crime.

Few months ago I read a post where an ex lg technician who resigned from from LG had the access of the service requests. So he took the details of the OP and visited OP's house for service and changed all the original parts with duplicate. Later the original technician visited and op got shocked.
Later the original technician identified the fraud person with the cc tv footage and OP understand the whole thing

Most probably partner in crime. The id proof used for the connection is belongs to a 19 year old boy. Today it got deactivated
 
Sbi card?? If so, did sbi card have responsibility as he was pretending to be from sbi card nodal officer?

Yes sbi card will say some bogus then if you escalate they will say bank will call only from 1600... And they have plenty of excuses, although you can escalate but don't keep any hope

I lost my hope when bank given the reply. I think cyber team also can't do anything on this as it's an IMT transaction. Bank also informed me that ra*cal withdrawn the money itself. So I called the senior again to raise the fraud complaint to their level 2. He asked me to attach the FIR copy tommarow. Anyone please tell me shall I need to contact the police station to register the FIR or the cyber cel will also register the same when I raised the complaint?
 
It is a case of blindly believing a fraudster in the hope of getting a LTF card.

This is the first time I am hearing about a bank's support staff - on a mobile pgone - directing to do a transaction - and the victim giving the OTP. Blindly hoping a LTF card.

SBICard sends SMSs n eMails asking the CC holders not to divulge any PINs, OTPs..... REPEATEDLY, almost every month.

Now that the money was lost, be thankful that it was only 5K. It could've been much worse.

Yes you need to file fir and also with cyber police. But how on earth did you agree for amount as banks do not ask for money or lien on cc to convert... this itself was a red flag... normally banks call only if you raise a compliant.. if you are not reachable they will send a email then you can reply. The only think is they can identify through cctv of ATM who withdrew funds...
I myself is a ex banker... but agree some do fraud... always remebet when someone says money your eye brows should raise... always record call and say will approach bran h and check.... immediately they will to disc9nnect or use abusing word and their tone will change... they will scare you that they will block the card or branch will not be helpful only on call or online.... dont believe all this if you are in doubt go to branch explain the manager abt incident and check your account and change the mobile no at branch for your account else monitor... otp should never be given to anyone.

Initially I felt some suspicious so I asked him when I sent the mail to ur nodal team. He informed me the exact date. That really surprising..!!!. I have the call recordings that I already sent to axis as well as to sbi cards for a reference. Bank closed the first complaint by stating that it's initiated and secured transaction by me. So I have only the responsibility😢. Can axis bank do any exceptions to reverse the amount under fraud induced transaction?? Will sbi card help anything in this regards?
Cyber cell informed that bank couldn't hold the amount as it's a IMT Transaction not an account transfer. Cyber cell can only give suggestions to bank to hold the amount, to freeze the transferred account. So hopeless.

Yes next time becareful if they have all details tell them you will visit branch and call from their they will immediately disconnect... one thing remember when someone asks or talks of money don't even bother to initiate.. banks can do reverse or freeze the account of the withdawer but they will not as usual it is a headache for them to do it.. but if you are a rich person they will do anything to get back funds... common account holders are not taken into consideration.... you need to know someone in bank at higher place then things will move your way... else they will blame you give sarcasm remarks.... sympathy words.... always have a record when dealing with banks in branch too an acknowledgement will suffice and take a pick of nit always.

Yes . Branch people are not helpful. Instead they were blaming me . The fraud people are operating the same from nearby ATM . When they get the code instantly they can withdraw the money.
