Visited the branch today after opening account online. Branch is telling me that only the account for Defence personnel is eligible for Rupay Select!

Nopes. I tried that. In fact one cannot open a second account online of a different variant. Overall experience so far has been pretty rubbish.

I opened an IOB A/C for inward remittance and requested for Rupay select Debit card, they issued easily with MAB of INR 1000/- ( that too cause i requested for cheque book), same should be the case with BOB as well.

Yeah even I opened one with IOB last week. Will call branch on Monday to check for the DC, but they said it can be issued. BoB is just crazy. Submitted an online complaint, and the redressal was that they are arranging for disptach of the DC. Got an SMS that something is sent by Speedpost - will need to wait and confirm if it is indeed Rupay Select/

At the branch, they are offering Rupay Select DC with 1000 MAB for Rs. 299. I am awaiting receipt of the card though.
