Retention offer for Amex reserve card,got 10k Taj voucher

Hi friends,
I have an amex reserve card,taken 3 years back.Now the card anniversary is coming up in march,one of my friends suggested that,I should call the customer care for some discount on the annual fee.I did not ask for any discount last year and paid the full fee.Today I called the Amex customer care,they gave me 3 options,
1) After paying the annual fee,I can get a 10k Taj voucher
2) I can get a 25% discount on the annual fee (which is not great)
3) I can spend 1.5 lakh rupees in 90 days from today,and the annual fee is waived off.
I considered the options 1 and 3,and opted for option 1 i.e get a 10k Taj stay voucher.Option3 is also lucrative and I have an international trip and domestic trip coming up in the next 3 months,I wasn't sure about using the Amex card for the rewards.I am diverting most of my spends to my Atlas card now.
It's a great offer from Amex,and I am glad that I called the customer care for this retention offer.

1 is a retention benefit i guess
if you spend 5 lakhs in a calendar year and on paying renewal fees they will give you a 10k take voucher
go for option 3

Yeah,Called them today that i am willing to take the 3rd option,thay said OK,so my 90 days starts today and I have to spend 1.5 lakhs in this time period.

After removing the access to Amex lounges, they are offering some decent retention benefits. Good work from Amex.

The 4th best option is to close your Reserve card because there are better Amex cards available.

Before you close, apply for Amex Plat Travel which offers 40K bonus MR points on completing 4L annual milestone and 10K Taj Voucher.
The renewal fees is also less at just 5K per year.

If you still have some more expenses, add an MRCC card for up to 20K spends that will get you 24K additional bonus MR points totalling 64K MR points every year combined for both the years while with the Amex Reserve, this will take forever to earn so many points.

The first year fees will also get waived off if you apply using an invite link so you save even more money.

Closing the card is not my intention,I need this card for the golf games.I don't want any other Amex card.I diverted my spends to Atlas,not interested in Amex reward points.Lounge access on Amex reserve is no longer lucrative,after they removed access to the Centurion lounge.I am holding reserve card basically for the golf games.

Absolutely! I missed that, for people looking for Golf benefits exclusively, the Reserve can come in handy.
For everything else, there's Plat Travel.
