HDFC DCB Retention or card close

I have the renewal of my HDFC DCB card coming up soon, and it's a paid one. I haven't spent 5,00,000 Rs. However, I would like to know if HDFC waves off the renewal fees upon request or offers a retention bonus. For me, this card may become useless with the fees and may close this.
 
Ask to see the waitlist register. Usually that does the trick if escalated to your Imperia RM. Of course, metro branches may not have any lockers available due to the high demand, but tier 2/3 cities usually have a few (reserved for new HNI customers)

Most probably these people don't give lockers to Imperia Customers as they don't earn from them. This is the most common reason. Hence, not even thinking of upgrading to Imperia, Classic is enough for HDFC.

Literally 0 Added benefits over Classic for Imperia Banking. Such a sham! 🤣 Imperia doesn't even guarantee Infinia. I even read here that One guy holds Imperia for like 15+ years, still he was not even getting a Regalia. 😆

If one got a better card from another issuing body and holding the old card per it's fees and benefits don't make sense anymore, people downgrade.

Fee waivers can be taken first on the card if available. But if the support is adamant on not complying, you can request to downgrade to a lower variant conditioned LTF in order to continue to hold a card from your old issuer for future offers and benefits and retaining the credit limit already available on that card account.
In my case I wrongly applied or clicked submit after logging in to my hdfc internet banking and to my bad luck my LTF DCB plastic version had then moved to FYF DCB Metal edition card.

However after dropping a email to backend team l, they converted/downgraded me again to DCB plan(from DCB Metal)

After the back end team had downgraded DCB Metal fyf to DCB Plastic fyf 4 days back. Dropped a email to PriorityRedressal.CreditCards@hdfcbank.com to consider from DCB Plastic fyf to DCB Plastic LTF. (Mentioned in the email saying it was purely my mistake and holding LTF card from last 12 yrs in hdfc & if bank is not converting my DCB card as LTF I have mentioned that I may close my credit card and bank salary account) which I wouldn't have do it anyways as it was my oldest card. (Started using hdfc card with a basic version way back in 2012)

But to my luck, finally received an email from PriorityRedressal.CreditCards@hdfcbank.com saying that they have considered my request approved for DCB Plastic LTF again (which I was enjoying till 10 days back).

Happiness overloaded. Much respect towards HDFC bank for valuing my 12 plus years of relationship with the bank

I happen to be one of the lucky ones, ... actually getting a locker in an urban branch!

I think it majority depends on the BM.

While I can't compare with the Classic, there were definite improvements in many respects compared to my plain vanilla regular account I had upgraded from. ... Comprehensive statements, very useful immediate alerts for everything, free IMPS, Imperia DC etc.

... And, of course, the good-for-nothing RM I can't shake off (... but that particular privilege also comes with the Classic, I presume)! 🙂

Good for you. I put in blood, sweat, and tears to convert my DCB to LTF, but in vain. I too mentioned that I would close all my relationships with HDFC if they don't convert it to LTF, but the reply was terse: "We value your relationship, but unfortunately we cannot convert your card to an LTF card. Please let us know if you still want to close your card." Unfortunately, except for this card my relationship with HDFC is not that rooted. It's probably the 5th most important bank account I maintain in the 6 accounts I have.
 
I've downgraded from Regalia LTF to Millennia LTF due to the RPs devaluation and stopping of 10x accelerated BRPs on SmartBuy. Now they've offered me DCB LTF (declined) and Infinia Metal FYF (RM is trying to push for LTF)
Your RM is man of god

But why decline DCB LTF ,apart from lower cap on smartbuy rewards and lack of priority pass, isn't it pretty much same as Infinia
 
Whenever you raise a Card Closure request, you might get a call from the issuer bank's retention team. You can negotiate for fee waivers, LTF conversions or potential card downgrades to one of your choice with LTF possibility. I don't know how to explain in a more clearer way.
When does this occur? After the card is temporarily blocked and you get a message or on the call itself?
