Clarification on fuel surcharge waiver on IOCL HDFC card

Guys,

Can anyone clarify the below fuel spends on IOCL HDFC card? I made 2 transactions on IOCL bunks worth 400 and 3500, but they charged 411.80 and 3541.30. The surge waiver that i received for these transactions are 4.08 and 35.06 which is less that the additional amount that is charged. When i speak with the customer care, they are completely clueless. I called 3 times. First 2 just disconnect call and the 3rd person informed me that the surcharge which the petrol bunk has charged is more than 1% and HDFC only gives waiver upto 1% max. If this is case, how would i know how much surcharge is being applied on the transaction as during the swipe it only shows 400 and 3500. So, i'm kind of lost as the customer care is asking to check with the petrol bunk owner on why they charged additional amount.

can someone please help me with this surcharge calculation and waive off? Does all the petrol bunks charge more than 1% surcharge and how would i know before swiping my card?

You've been charged a fuel surcharge of 1% + GST, which totals 1.18%. But you only received a surcharge waiver of 1%. This is normal.

if we take GST as 18%, its like 3500+ 1% surcharge = 35+ 18%= 41.3 which is correct. but about the 2nd transaction 400+ 1% surcharge = 4 + 18% = 4.72 which means i should be charged 404.72. but i was charged 411.8 which is higher? any idea on this?

For the second one, you have been charged 2.5% + GST. I have no idea why there are different surcharges at different petrol stations. That's also with a huge difference, from 1% to 2.5%.

For under Rs.1000 some POS charging min Rs.10+GST
In icici credit card you got Rs.10 back for Rs.1000 and below transactions. but some POS may charge only 1% and you got balance as bonus

How will we know this before making our transaction at the bunk? Do all bunks charge 2.5% surcharge below 1000/-? If that is case, its not advisable to use CC for bike fuel purchases

For anyone reading it, here is clarification:

Fuel surcharge is 1% of the transaction amount or ₹10 minimum.

So even if you make ₹50 transaction, minimum ₹10 surcharge will be added.

Of course 18% GST is charged additionally on the surcharge.

get different card, for transaction below 1000rs the pos should not be used, they charge flat 11.80 rs. Better get IDFC power + and pay via HP pay wallet.
