So now HDFC Savings Max account is charging fee for SMS alerts? Previously never noticed this.

Notice the description 'Oct to Dec 23, 19 sms' it suggests I think. Charging ₹5 for nearly a year old period?

What's going on? Should I dispute this?

I was charged Rs 1.42 (yes, less than 1.5 rupee) which is OK with me. I must have got not less than 50 to 60 SMS and eMails - all related to my paid bills, debits, credits and other trxns - like interest credits - etc.,

I do not mind paying such a paltry sum for keeping me informed about what's happening in my account.

And, I got back about 10,400/- plus from this account so far, as cashback and interest. So, it's not even peanuts - but only husk.

Not concerned about the amount here.

But concerned about the process itself, never experienced this. Suddenly they are charging, seems arbitrary, that too from a year ago.

If we don't keep tab on their process, tomorrow they may suddenly charge a not so paltry sum for some reason.

Yes after several years of usage first time I got charged for 5.90/-
Suddenly they stopped bill pay rewards within app and on top of that this new sms charges
Looks like some new product head is having a big target to save profits 😋😉

You guys should probably raise the a dispute....

They have mentioned it in a very confusing way in the Fees and Charges section. Speciale Gold, Speciale Platinum & Speciale Senior are all 3 diff accounts and Savings Max is different.... ( My assumption is they have missed putting a comma after 'Max' )

Thanks for this! I am going to pursue this. Can you please share the link where you found it?

If they stop CB on DC/BillPay, there is no point in having SBMax account with them. I will close it without any 2nd thought.
They have already stopped. I have not been receiving cashbacks for CC payments since a couple of months now. may be others in the forum can confirm. Yes HDFC account was only useful for CC payments only otherwise pathetic branch service over all & most confusing , annoying net banking.

You are not correct.
Last week, I paid 2000 to SBI CC thru HDFC's BILLPAY from SBMax a/c by using DC. Got 20 reward points credited. See the Screenshot.

Same Here.
I have also been charged for Insta alerts whereas on their website it is clearly mentioned in the "Saving Max Account features" that InstaAlerts is free and in the .PDF of Fees & Charges it is written in a little confusing way.

Apart from sending mails to HDFC regarding this issue separately, we should also seek clarification from the bank on social media like X/Twitter.

Cashback usually credited under Product Feature 1.0 percent Cashback
But yours is getting credit under Loyalty Program Gold Cards

Sir, Do you have another Debit Card other than Easyshop Platinum Debit card (Black one) ??

Or are you enrolled in some other programme???

I have only 1 DC - Visa Platinum DC. Only 1 SB Max account (as part of their standard instant welcome kit given across the counter in their local branch). .

And, nothing else.
No other account.
No other DC.
No other CC.

Did anyone send an email or asked HDFC?

As far as I remember, there was no prior 1-month announcement regarding the new implementation of Insta Alert charges.
