Hello

Does anybody have HDFC Banks's "Premium Salary Account" ?
Could you please share the product code for it ? It can be found in monthly e-statement or through customer care.

I am currently holding "Regular Salary Account" and looking to upgrade to "Premium Salary Account".
Bank officials are not much help here and customer support keep telling to go to branch.
So if I know product code, I will fill the form myself..

Also please do share your feedback on the same as well.

Thanks for the help.

no idea, never checked about it. could you share this "premium salary account" benefit url from hdfc.com website?

This is the link
Raise a complaint on Twitter about account upgrade ask for complaint number

Then
Just write a complaint to hdfc grievance portal

Bm will contact you by call ..

This is the link

seems like you just ahve to fill the form and submit to the branch

and no changes compared to other salary accounts.

you need 'preferred or imperia' for benefits.

Account conversion from bharna hoga
That requires product code for this variant

I'm saying try for program variants like 'preferred' or 'imperia' on your 'regular salary account' rather switching whole variant. It will be easier and most likely branch people aware about it.

Frankly SBI salary account is much better then HDFC salary account.
how so, can you elaborate ?. I had a 7 year old salary account with SBI cibil of 780+, yet they kept rejecting my credit card application for SBI Cashback. I switched to HDFC out of spite against SBI. HDFC ain't offering anything extra but I won't move back to SBI after the harrowing experiences at their branches.

Hi, Did you find a solution for this yet? I recently opened a regular salary account. Sharing my understanding so far -

As far as I could understand, the HDFC banks staffs or virtual RMs open only regular 0 balance salary accounts for all people (with basic relationship head - Standard) and later map it to one of the heads - Classic, Preferred or Imperia - based on the salary range.
Opening the regular 0 balance salary account is the easiest and straightforward, no hassles thing for them. (and for us too). This is fully online as well.

To open any other kind of salary account - like Premium Salary account, or Speciale salary account (Gold or Platinum), you need to give initial funding (of 1L or more). And it looks like the process is more complicated, needs paperwork etc.
So they do not encourage to open salary accounts with initial funding. Instead they open SavingsMax account and then convert it to salary account later.

With initial funding (for both salary and savings), you can get MAMC feature as well (My Account My Choice) - like account number will be same as your mobile number etc.

Lastly, if you have a regular salary account, I think you cannot 'convert' it to premium salary account (because it is not just account type or account variant). Both are different accounts altogether with different account numbers. That means we need to open a new premium salary account and close the regular standard salary account.

Really?

I remember I opened a normal salary account. Then it got upgraded to Preferred and then to Imperia based on salary. Didnt do anything from my side.

I too opened a normal salary account, I didn't wait for auto-upgrade.
After 1 week of account opening, just called my RM to upgrade to Preferred.

Everything else was super smooth in HDFC, all previous credit cards that I held before opening the account is linked in the same account / customer ID.
Easyshop platinum debit card, cheque book and passbook came by post. Activated the debit card and UPI.

Could you please share the product code , shown in your account statement?

For me I had an existing SavingsMax that got converted to regular salary Account. The I requested to upgrade to Preferred. And then I converted to premium Salary Account.
So currently I have premium Salary account with preferred program.

Classic, Preferred imperia are just banking programs
Underlying account for you would still be regular salary account.

Iam talking about converting base account to premium salary account and then any banking program of choice (preferred or imperia or whatever)

Thanks @bhavyakjain. My Product Code is 113.

So yours is like: Savings max > normal salary > premium salary.
Mine is starting with normal salary.

I have some questions -
  • Is there any funding/initial balance/minimum balance required? Or is it 0 balance altogether?
  • I believe it is based on net salary - anything else?
  • I believe account number and other things remain the same, only product code changes?
  • Any additional benefits for premium salary (preferred) vs normal salary (preferred)?

I had mailed support team and they said it is premium Salary account (now I am confused)

Yes it is 0 balance
It is on net salary credit
Account number and all remain same, only product code changes
No additional benefits that I know of
