AU Ixigo Credit Card Rejected Instantly Before KYC – Need Help

I recently applied for the AU Ixigo Credit Card via the Ixigo app, but my application was rejected instantly, even before the KYC process.

I have a strong CIBIL score, work at a reputed company with a good salary, and already hold credit cards from other banks.

I'm unsure why this happened. Anyone able to get it approved after facing a similar rejection? Please share any tip Screenshot 2025-01-03 at 5.15.47 PM.webp

Do as explained:
From your work email, write a strongly worded (not abusive) email to pno@aubank.in and explain your situation. This email should contain your frustration on spending so much time for this process and optimism in getting it (don't share any personal problems here)

You also mention about the thought of recommending this card to others but based on your experience so far, you have refrained from doing so (just write, even if you didn't mean to). Don't forget to mention the point that your details given in the application are true and accurate and there is no discrepancy (provided this is truly the case). In case there was any discrepancy found, ask them how can it be corrected and you would cooperate with them in all ways since you wish to have this card.

Tomorrow or the day after, you will get a call from PNO. They will ask some details and some procedures to be followed. 48hrs after doing that, you should hopefully get an approval message.

they replied with this. when i asked Reason for rejection

We have examined your application, basis the following criteria (does not necessarily imply your adverse creditworthiness).

1. Eligibility criteria as per the Bank

2. Past borrowings of the applicant

3. Regulatory and statutory provisions governing the Bank

4. Inaccurate information/declaration by the applicant

5. KYC Norms

Based on the information provided by you and our consideration of the same with the above-highlighted criteria, we regret to inform you that we are unable to process the credit card application submitted by you as the same does not meet the required criteria.

We take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in availing AU Bank Credit Card and hope that we can be of service to you in the future.

Further, the bank would re-evaluate your profile after 6 months. Thus, we request you to reapply after 6 months.

ixigo has worst rejection criteria, check following link:

after multiple calls and emails to PNO. they replied for rejection reason: High number of active credit cards
Ask them what is the maximum number of credit cards someone can have beyond which they don't sanction and why have they not mentioned this criteria in credit card application. They won't be able to provide any answer. You can obviously move to Ombudsman, bank is trying to deviate from the standard regulations.

should i wait for 30 days? or i can raise before 30 days to RBI as i am not satisfied with the bank's response

You can complain before 30 day period also if you are not satisfied with bank's response.
I had a similar case.....ixigo rejected due to high number of active credit cards. I got this response from pno after i raised complain with RBI. Where can i escalate this to?

To add to this, the above mentioned point was the 2nd rejection by au bank after being rejected 6 months ago. What happened back then was that when the bank rep called me for physical verification i explained that i work from home so i wont be in my office if they choose office verification. However as it was needed i said i can go to my office on Saturday my weekoff and wait for the bank rep to complete the verification. Unfortunately i missed the next call from the bank rep and obviously when i called back there was no answer. However i did go to my office as promised to the bank rep on Saturday and the bank person never showed up. I tried calling that bank rep again but no response. A few days later i got an email saying the application was rejected as internal verification norms were not met.
And then after 6 months when i reapplied they outright rejected and when i complained, the reason given was high number of active cards. Why was i not told about this the first time?

Should i escalate this or dont bother about it ?

You should definitely escalate this. Bank is clearly deviating from regulatory guidelines. You should ask why bank did not mention this in the eligibility criteria itself. Bank is collecting data from every applicant by hiding such eligibility criteria. If people are not going to raise questions on such practices, banks will continue with this. People don't want to put in little time and effort to complain to the RBI, but I always say it's applicants' right to ask questions and conplain to regulator when banks are misleading them.
