Eligibility Criteria for ICICI Emeralde Private Metal - Discussion

I recently updated to Wealth account in icici. Can see upgrade options of Emeralde (NOT Private Metal), which was not there earlier.
So I guess a positive step towards EPM maybe?
I remain hopeful 🙂

Zero for a few!
@abhiaj98 for many people upgrade option disappeared after the launch of ishop.

It came back 2-3 days back this week and many people are seeing paid emeralde now.
Some with normal bank account (not wm)
Some are seeing it without bank account (I still have only cc, I am seeing it)

See for more:

I heard that the floor limit of Emeralde Private is Rs 6 lakhs, and I already have an Emeralde PVC card with a limit of Rs 7,10,000. Will I be eligible to upgrade my Emeralde PVC to Emeralde Private solely on the basis of existing credit limit on Emeralde PVC card?

No, your ITR and PPOP also matters for EPM.

If you're holding EPVC spend some good amount on that card, you'll most likely get an upgrade by the system down the line.

spend based policy wont work here even ICICI knew that that's why they're super keen on PPOP, for infinia the ppop required is just 12.5k unlike emeralde metal, they're super clear that they want to place this card higher than infinia.
Are you sure PPOP is just 12.5k for Infinia? can you give me link or screenshot for my reference to negotiate with HDFC.

I talked with RM and BM, both decent enough about trying to help me get the EPM. RM had requested approvals from all the hierarchy and I just talked with BM and he said that I will have to wait until March ends. They (RH and CC head, etc.) wouldn't give much time to custom requests until March ends because they're quite frankly busy trying to fill the sell quotas which are easier in pre-approved segments rather than custom approvals.

Do you meet the salary criteria or have good trv?

good relation with BM. have done a personal favour for him a while back. He just started the ball rolling, let's see if upper brass approves or not.
That's the main criteria. Upper brass approvals and ability of your RM/BM to get it approved.

Lol, this is 100% not true.

I had 80L deposits ( 60 Cash + 20 Fd) in account from over an year and net salary of 57L and they were still denying the card saying you need to satisfy 60L criteria.

I doubt it that would be less than 12k ppop.
If you have an use case and definitely need the card, try to take some loan as this is the March end and they might consider.

Genuine cases like yours should be considered by ICICI. But they don't. Depends on BM/RM

Banks seem to work in mysterious ways when it comes to credit cards, especially with ones where eligibility criteria isn't public. And when a customer approaches them willing to go to any extent to get a credit card that is "by invite only", it gives them leverage to sell the customer anything.

I understand that if you don't have that card, you're probably missing out on some really good benefits. But I think that as a customer, you should introspect if it is really worth it to go to such extent. For example, some people are taking the Emeralde PVC (which is like a useless card with that fees) hoping that by having it in their wallet they "might" be able to upgrade to EPM in future. Usually, bank would ask you to use the card extensively, have 3-4L of spends for at-least 3-4 months on the card for upgrade. But there is no guarantee as such. You're essentially being fooled into buying a bad product, so there has to be a point where you should just leave it there and make peace with it. Especially if you're in the income bracket where you're meeting their unofficial criteria (for either EPM or Infinia), there is no point going through the churn.

Finally my rm from my tier 3 hometown applied for the EPM credit card. Still waiting for the state head approval and product head approval though. Let’s see how it goes.

Application was on salary basis and Wealth account. I made a wealth account and added 10L funding as he said it might increase the chances. At the very least, it wont hurt, and I get to push him and BM for the credit card.

Fingers crossed 🤞
