1% Cashback returns on HDFC Platinum Debit Card

A lot of people have been paying over 30k bills including me.

Hope its not some new rule. Few other people have also informed on this thread that a new biller has some limit for first payment.

My issue is of the email that I received and the link to give permission is not working. It is due to - I created a new biller and amount is also high.

Till now no one in HDFC has been able to provide a reason for this email.
Infact email was forwarded to wrong teams by customer care people. Right now its being looked by back-end support team who took all screen-shots to understand what the concern is.
Bro, any update?

Bro, any update?
Nai bhai. No news from Bank.
Incase auto pay does not happen, then we have following options-

  1. Manually pay on 23rd April through HDFC bill pay. The risk is OTP gets generated and smartpay would disable. But the biller would continue to remain in Bill Pay. And we can later edit the biller to enable smartpay.
  2. Make payment through another option, not Bill Pay. And next month hopefully it would pick up the bill on its own.
The idea is not to delete the biller now and let it remain as it is.
What do you think.

I think the 2nd option is better because i don't want to disable it now. Hopefully it picks automatically next month.

Great.
I think I will take risk with option1.
My scheduled date is 22nd April. So if autopay doesnot happen by 23rd April morning then I would attempt manual payment.
Lets see what happens.

HDFC's auto pay is kinda scary, from my experience.

One, if the "scheduled" date is 22nd, it will happen one day later.

Check out the screenshot below. It clearly mentions that the bill will be paid "on the next working day"

So what I expect to happen, on the morning of 23rd, we are talking around abouts of 8am the money will be debited and bill paid. (For me, it happened today, 19th)

I am assuming 23rd is not your due date right?

I do get 1% cash back for these auto pays , by the way. If you go the non-auto-pay route and enter OTP etc, you don't get cashback.

POS XXXXXXXXXXX12XX HDFCBPBBAND -- when paid manually, no cashback

Thanks for this update on manual payment.
Was this manual payment done near to the due date or was it done several days before due date.

My bill due date is 26th April. So actual payment would be deducted from account on 23rd morning if it goes on autopay.

Is it showing under the scheduled payments? If not, autopay won't happen.

I have a bill payment of 53k on my AU card and i got an sms and email that the bill would be paid 4 days before due. And now I can see it in the scheduled transactions. Bill payment date is 1st may. So, if this goes through, then the 30k limit which they shared is completely false

SmartPay scheduled for Rs.___ for ___ Bill will auto-debit via HDFC Bank Debit card XXXXXX within 4 days by 02-May-2025. SO WHEN EXACTLY? 28th or 29th April? I want to get ₹750 for this month itself and all my stupid cards have due dates later in May which I hurriedly got changed to earlier dates by calling all banks' customer care so at least 4 days before due date is coming in April

Smartpay SI reversals charge you Rs.500+GST and Rs.750+GST depending on different factors. Better not to have it instead of not keeping balance.
Wait WHAT? These charges are taken any time we discontinue SmartPay? W T F? Suppose a bill is autopaid, then when I discontinue, these SmartPay SI cancellation will trigger charges? Or am I not understanding something?

I think you might have a got an email from HDFC. In the email, the scheduled date will be mentioned and the actual payment happens the very next day early in the morning.

I believe these are charges the bank charges if we have the autopay/smartpay enabled but dont have sufficient balance in the bank account
