So far, the listed benefits are not upto the mark and definitely not ultra-premium (Centurion, First Select, Prive and maybe Premier). It's not even Infinia or EPM level, which are not "ultra-premium".
Something ultra premium will have less than 1000 issuances a year. Ekaa will have around 2.5 lakh issuances a year. 😭😹
If an Ekaa is allowed on a Diners/Amex lounge, it will get as crowded as a Visa Infinite or Rupay Select lounge normally does. Ekaa is a little better than RS but not quite MCWE or VI as all Ekaa issuers lack accelerated platforms. Accelerated platforms add hue PSBs me to Ekaa will rival these two which aren't ultra premium segments like Amex Centurion or IDFC first select or HSBC Prive are.
Ultra Premium is something that is rare. Not something that is necessarily rewarding.
Don't be surprised if Ekaa is launched at a cheap 4 figure price (effective 899.82-1800 fees due to non GST portion as rewards) with something as low as 50k or 100k in 60/90 days as the fee waiver criteria for joining.
Problem with PSUs is that they are neither daring not aggressive. They don't need to be not have an incentive to be.
Sarkaar deposits bhi deti hain and capital bhi.
Our gen is trying to change things. But will take 10-20 years for real change and by then many may retire pre-maturely.
But down the line hona chahiye unless the only survivors are the dumbest amongst our gen. Seniors say ki har gen me dumbest rukte hain 60s tak pittances pe kaam karne ko as GM/CEO (you will cry how poorly these posts are paid in PSBs) while the smartest leave in 20s-30s or retire rich at 40s-50s.
RuPay Ekaa is an Ultra Premium Credit Card in the RuPay tier.
This means that all the cards which banks have launched under Visa Infinite will now come under RuPay Ekaa (especially referring to private banks).
After that, it depends on the banks and RuPay as to how many benefits they can offer.
Fintech companies like CRED can also provide excellent benefits.
There will also be multiple RuPay Ekaa credit cards, just like there are multiple variants of the RuPay Select credit card in banks.
For example, Union Bank itself has three variants of the RuPay Select Credit Card.
Currently, the plan for RuPay Ekaa Credit Card includes unlimited lounge access.
And since lounge access on other cards is being devalued, RuPay Ekaa will offer strong competition at a particular price point.
For example, Bank of India has stated that the RuPay Ekaa card will be priced at ₹5,000 and cardholders will also get gift vouchers worth ₹5,000, along with various additional benefits and unlimited lounge access.
This benefit will offer to the first RuPay Ekaa Credit Card from Bank of India but in the future, more RuPay Ekaa Credit Cards will be launched by the bank.
