Axis Bank sending notice for clarification regarding customer's travel spends on atlas

Axis Bank today sent notices to many of its Atlas credit card customers requesting clarification and invoices regarding their "travel category spends". Axis Atlas is a travel-focused credit card, so it's surprising that the bank is asking for invoices and clarification for travel category expenses over the past few months. A few days ago, Axis Bank deducted Edge Miles and Edge Reward Points from some customers' reward accounts, citing business transactions. Now, they are requesting clarification on affected customers' travel spends within the next 30 days, otherwise, the bank will cancel their credit cards.

Here, I'm attaching a copy of the notice email:

Many genuine Atlas customers have been affected by this move. Some people just spent under 10k on travel categories and received clarification notices. I can understand Axis's desire to eliminate abusers from their customer list, but troubling genuine customers is unacceptable. This is the main reason I didn't add the Axis Magnus Burgundy credit card/Axis Magnus credit card to our list of the best credit cards for 2024. While it may offer good rewards, it's not reliable at all. Axis should revert to their old credit card reward system as they are not capable of running a reward system with airmiles transfer partners.
For peace of mind, stay away from Axis Bank credit cards.

Hello guys, I've received this email from Axis:

A couple of questions:
1. I booked a total of 9 Airbnb's during the Sept to Nov period. A few Airbnb's (5) were booked while applying for a Schengen Visa in September and later canceled. The rest, I made use of when I went to Europe. Do I need to send the invoices for cancelled one's also? I've received the refund for these.
2. The merchant China Express turns out was a food outlet in Phoenix mall, however, it has been categorized under "Hotels" for Axis. The spend was just of INR 540. How do I show proof of a 3-month old hakka noodles and paneer chilly dinner at a mall?

Only way is to contact the outlet and explain.

Yeah, its sad. I think they would have asked for the excrete to be posted to their Head Office to verify it too as they are asking a lot here.

In all seriousness, it will calm down in 2 days I think, but by then everything would have been too much of a chaos.
Its better if you can confirm with PNO stating how should one be able to prove such things.

1. Send the receipts of the cancelled transactions too.
2.Attach the receipts of big transactions first, if they ask for the smaller ones then tell your problem.

Is this the first time Amex is saying that you can spend on business without worry or is it a common notification grabbing eyes now?

that is risky as most of the backend action is from rbi and amex won't be spared either if they see an increase in biz transactions

Most of my expenses are business expenses.
What credit cards will yiu guys suggest, also please direct me to a post where this is being talked about so i can get more detailed info
Take any top end card unless u go nuts in Similar orders then it might get flagged else
Any top tier card works
But it depends on your type of spending , where u spend & how much u spend

While this Axis fiasco is happening, surprisingly, I have received complimentary 3 months Swiggy One membership from Axis.

No dude ! I guess its an acknowledgment mail and they're just informing the reason and the merchants names for the account suspension. I have no idea what they mean by "we have already created an interaction internal regarding edge reward account and the same will be processed in 05 working days."
I also got same reply just now. Don't know what they mean
