For Aurum upgrade you need to have 2.5L credit limit on the core card or 25L ITR (Which they are very strict) or pre approved offers. Recently a new term got popped up in SBI (Over Leverage)- So you shouldn't be over leveraged.

But doesn't this increase overall unsecured debt exposure? Also, other banks might reject new card applications stating "over-leveraged" when they access our report..... Can we ask them to report as single card on CIBIL?

I will suggest to take the pre-approved offer for now. If not, then, Either close a few cards which have high CL but are useless for you, or wait till your income increases.

Out of all the Banks, SBI religously follows over leverage rule very strictly ( there are a couple of other banks as well).. So my TIP: we need to get all our desired SBI cards in the initial stages of our CC portfolio.. or get atleast one with max CL and then split the CL with other new SBI cards

When I applied for SBI elite, Manager from credit card branch mentioned that there is a big chance of rejection if one's profile is over leveraged (Especially SBI cards) That is the reason, in general, they ask you for income range and company you work ( if you are employed). So better close...

For those already having SBI card, over-leveraged can not be termed as a valid reason but SBI card may still reject application. Additional card , specially cashback card, is issued with initial 5k limit only and later limit is re-balanced from existing cards. So basically no extra credit line...
