Accor Plus Membership Purchase : The Do's and Don'ts for Maximizing Your Benefits. | Hand on purchase experience

I've been planning a long trip to SE Asia - specifically Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

Most of the destinations I plan to visit, Accor group has something in the budget i need it with good reviews. Top that with great conversation ratio, accor has become no brainer for me. I plan to keep pushing the points to accor as and when axis keeps giving the salary

Thank you so much for help, well in future planning trip to south east asia, Maldives, Europe or usa so what will be good? And can you explain how er to itc to mb give more value?
ITC to MB is in 2:3 ratio but you can only transfer 60k per calendar year.
Create an ITC account, transfer axis 75k ER to ITC
That will be 60K ITC green points(GP)
Link MB account to your ITC
Now you can transfer 60K GP to MB
That will be 90K MARRIOTT Points.

Please someone guide me, how can I buy iPhone using Accor points?
Any custom charges i have to pay from my pocket?

You may end up paying 22% duty first and 18% gst on top of it. Google import duties and gst of mobile phones in india.
In short - Not worth it
Yes.
To add to the point:
It's shipped from Netherlands. I mailed them about customs duty asked if it's possible to pay it to them via points so that we don't have to and they said, no. They send it through India Post only internationally, and custom duty is counted on CIF value written on the parcel. No way around it. Have to pay it.

How can we pay that custom duty then? Do those customer officers contact us?

Depends.
Fedex like couriers pay it themselves and charge us on delivery
Indiapost will intimate you to visit post office to pay customs charges

But since it is a high value purchase you may end up going to customs clearance office in your city/state

I only purchased goods below 10k mrp so far from outside(Aliexpress, shipito etc)

If you're fortunate, your parcel may clear customs without incurring any taxes. However, if the customs officer decides to open and inspect the parcel, you will be required to pay the full tax amount. Typically, you will receive a letter or SMS from the courier company, in this case, the Indian Post Office, notifying you about the payment.

18% gst on import duty only or entire iphone price?
If yes 22+18=40%? 😮

For iphone and all, they might mark it as high value product, fragile, electronics etc.
Since the days of drone/toys import from outside, chances of skipping customs valuation is very slim

That's true! But last year, I was fortunate enough to receive two orders without incurring any taxes. Although they weren't as expensive as iPhones, they weren't cheap either. That's why I believe luck plays a role, and it also depends on how the package is labeled. If the seller doesn't declare the real value, there's a chance of avoiding taxes. However, I doubt this seller would take that route. In summary, I agree that importing mobile devices or laptops from outside India can be a headache and not worth it.

Total amount = 22% on invoice amount + invoice amount

18% gst for total amount
😅

Short story: company sent me a custom made network hub(costs around 2k inr)
I ended up paying 1.6k as charges in 2018
22% of 2k is 440.
18% of (2k+440) is 439.
So, total is 879. How did u pay 1600?

There was no invoice as it was a custom made hub with a basic board and sd card. The officer quoted a higher valuation and i had to pay 1600. He was not satisfied with the declared value of 2k.
Yes, Even if there is a legit invoice, customs officer has full descretion to deny CIF value written on the parcel and put the fair value at his subjection. If he thinks the fair value is higher, then you have to pay import duty on that value. Although that is rare but I have read of such instances when someone orders during black friday sale, etc.

Is there any major advantage of purchasing Accor Plus for a person who is already ALL Platinum? Is anyone familiar with what the differences between the two are?
