My Air India FR account is 20 days old but I cannot book any ticket for my wife and child using my flying return points, because I need to book 2 tickets on my name first.

Can I buy these two tickets on my name using--
1. Points (+ taxes)
2. Cash + points (+taxes)
3. Full cash

One important change I've observed is that while vistara requires around 500-1k in taxes component, Air India on the other hand requires 1k for economy, 2k for premium economy and 3.5k for business which is ridiculously huge. So, it's better to redeem business class vouchers before merger itself.

Please tell me the trick as my FR account is 25 days old and I cannot book with points for my wife.

Customer care says that my account is not yet activated for using points for reward flights.
So in order to activate the account I need to book 2 full cash flights in my name on AIR India app and then it will get activated after I have completed flying those 2 flights

Error is that "miles are not valid"

Yes they confirmed then I can book tickets for my wife and family using points only after completing two flights for which I paid FULL CASH. That means after journey completion.

I have already paid for these 2 flights using full cash, but I still cannot book tickets for myself or family using points

I have SBI AIRINDIA card. When we convert our Reward Points to AirIndia miles, 1 RP is 1 Airmile. but the value for 1 Airmile is 0.8? Savesage application shows this, I am not sure if this shows right.

It is around 50 Paisa for economy seats and much more for business and first class.
Savesage is giving you the average value.
However I only consider value for economy class reward seats

If you have the Aeroplan transfer option, transfer to Aeroplan rather than Air India. I redeemed Air India business for 20K aeroplan points vs 43K requirement on Air India directly.

You can redeem it on air india website
You'll see the taxes payable on payment page when you try to book which is weirdly less than what we pay when we book with points for PE and BZ.
