All BOB Credit Cards devaluation alert

Effective from 15th November, 2022 BOB Financial going to change its reward system for all bob credit cards.
You'll earn 50% less reward for all spends done on special categories.



MCC codes of all special categories are listed below-


Major categories that are excluded-
Rent, utility bill payment, educational fees payment, government fees payment, insurance, supermarket etc.
This is really horrible!

Got an SMS from BOBCard, major change involves NO reward points now on Special category MCCs, for any card. List of special MCCs remains generally the same. Changes will kick in on 15 July 2024.

I dont know who used bob cards so much that they had to devalue... Even debit cards give better rewards then their cards... Except eterna and snapdeal card

Ah, the original post in this thread was of the older devaluation, where some rewards were still applicable on Special category MCCs. Now, from 15 July rather, those special category MCCs will no longer accrue any points, which is what I was asking to be included in the original post, along with the rest of the finer points, including SD card.

Bobcard was on a roll around 2-3 years ago, they were coming out with new card variants, Eterna was a great card for the fees, other Bob Cards were routinely being offered as LTF, BoB SD was a decent Rupay based card for UPI, BoB generally had offers in e-commerce platforms. Somehow, they decided to pull back. Now, BoB cards are just way too high maintenance to consider, with the list of exclusions. It'll be difficult to know what might accrue points or what may be excluded, right off the bat. High value transactions will be dicey. It's almost as if the wheels have come off completely, like it was on boil, and now after spillover you are left with a small quantity of almost burnt liquid. Shame.

If one swipes, possibly none. If one uses UPI though, might get the UPI reward rate. Nothing's mentioned about that. Just messy.

They were offering discounts on sales multiple times last year. This year very less too.
Looks like this year will end up as the death of the credit cards.

I think online grocery will give some points but there are better cards for that.. Supermarkets are excluded now... Like dmart reliance fresh

true. whoever uses these cards that will be the main purpose and easily can notice backend for next devaluation.
