Amex cards are not accepted on housing.com anymore

I found a post on x.com stating that housing.com has stopped accepting amex cards.

Even the banner stating “Amex cards are now accepted” on housing.com is also removed from the app.

I have personally not used it though but clearly amex doesn’t want users to pay rent using their cards.

Mobikwik is already charging lot of fees for loading wallet using credit cards and Xtra had major changes recently which could discourage more investments ( this helped earlier in fees recovery partially )

What other options we have now for rent payments ?

yea its been around 2 weeks now. i last used it on the 4th sept. after that no luck.

What is meant by Amex card?

Card issued by American Express?
Or Card issued by Any bank within American Express Network?


I have a Rubyx -American Express Credit card. Can I call it a Amex card? (Mostly for Show off as I found it not much of use)

No it is an ICICI card.
American express cards will have only American express on it, like
1) Membership rewards credit card
2) Gold charge card
3) Platinum travel card
4) Platinum charge card (not worth it)

Amex stand for American Express.

Amex has its own payment network like visa and master.

Amex majorly issue card on its own,
Like Amex Platium, Amex Rewards cards, Amex titanium and few other option.

But it also has tie up with banks, who issue cards on Amex platform. (Very few, as majority prefer visa or master only)

Amex charges high merchant fees then visa and master card, hence it's penetration is very less in India.

Many times merchant have to pay 3 times the fees compare to visa or master.

Amex is now mostly a show off card at high end luxury shopping and luxury dinner places.

Hence most petrol pump and all are not on Amex network.
Even many online platform don't accept Amex cards.

You are not missing anything in life if you don't have Amex cards, so don't worry.
