Amex chat is now a bot!

Looks like amex is devaluing everything these days. Including support. The amex chat is now handled by a stupid bot.

Not sure for this particular instance, but after first 1-2 messages it will connect to a human agent. This was implemented long back in Amex customer care

and when an agent comes ask him
or call up concierge

Haven't tried that. Previously when I used the chat it used to connect me directly to a human, now it doesn't. And thats still a degrade in my view.

I noticed this too. From what I remember that is not how it was a month back.

Bot is for normal queries and for more specific and account related queries cs agent will be there.
