AMEX Credit cards - No gold/jewellery purchase in first 6 months

I recently got the AMEX MRCC and it is activated and all.
I had planned purchase of gold for ashya thrithiya for around 20,000 INR.
I swiped on a AMEX POS machine and it kept showing Invalid card and when tap to pay, it said invalid pin.

I called up the support and they told me that for the first 6 months, Amex credit cards can not be used for purchases in jewellery stores or cash withdrawal for the first 6 months.
I had not heard this anywhere. Please read the point 39 in the attached T&C.
I think it is important for many new applicants to read the T&C.

Just wanted to share this info and let other new AMEX users know about this, as most of the time, we apply using referral and it's usually all rosy and great.
There are visible cons too. FYI

Okay .. dont have amex plat and infinia .. i need to purchase in GRT .. so tata neu infinity not useful.. so only option left for me is DCB or apay icci 😛

It was obvious for me bro, they were accepting amex so payed to complete milestone. You should go for mrcc only if you want to complete milestone benifits amd if those benifits are worth. Else go with DCB and suppose if they don't accept Diners then they won't be accepting amex either so u have only one choice in that case

No idea for offline gold purchase. I purchased through their online store and got cashback accordingly.
