Devaluation Amex platinum travel collection devaluation?

I am not able to understand how it affects people having gold or MRCC along with travel card. They will still use 24k gold collection - it any case gives better value. Standalone basis travel card is good only for Marriot transfer. But I sense Gold collection may not stay same. It was devalued last year and maybe next change will happen there. Doesn't make any sense that here you pay 25k points to get 10k Taj voucher but another you can get 14k voucher for 24k points.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Could it be possible that they plan to devalue 14K Taj voucher for 24K points as well?

Also, @jk51 I sail in the same boat, using this card to fund 1 luxury travel a year. But now your 3rd option is the most convenient one. I moved in that direction after not receiving a good renewal offer on Gold Charge last year. I think the time as come or Plat Travel too.

Depends on what one is used to redeem those MR points

For those who were into transfers doesn’t make any difference

For those who were holding it for voucher redemptions the deval is significant enough to question the cards place now in their portfolio

Also it would make little difference to people who’s points get pooled together for all the cards but for those who have separate quota for Plat Travel and other cards (MRCC, Gold Charge, Smartearn) it’s a big dent now.

True. As of now it wouldn't affect people who are pooling the points. But Amex can makes changes to the conversation rate for 24k gold vouchers also to make things consistent..

How does this change really " change " things?

The USP of the card has always been being able to use it for its milestones. Wherein, you can use it at places no other cards give rewards in. Ez.. utilities, insurance, fuel etc..

This still holds true and it's excellent food these spends upto 4L.

Moreover, the real redemption benefit was always marriott, wherein you would get the max value for your points, which hasn't changed too ( atleast from amex side, marriott themselves are playing a whole other game)

But what exactly changed? Were you planning to redeem points for Taj vouchers?
I was mainly planning it for NPS and rent payments but since I already have a Regalia Gold and Atlas, am doubting my decision now. Also, if I split my expenses on Plat Travel my chances of DCB or infinia become less with my 12-14L annual expense as of last year.
