Amex Platinum Travel Redemption Choices

I believe many are like cat on the wall situation about Amex Platinum travel especially with redemption values

I hold MRCC and looking for Platinum travel upgrade via referral but redemption is a question mark for me.
I hear,
1 MR = 0.3 rs Flipkart
1 MR = 0.5 rs Taj

Flipkart is bit less value more usable whereas Taj is more value but less usable(for me)

Is there any redemption options between these 0.3 rs FP and 0.5 rs Taj like say, Tanishq Gold(not Diamond), BMS, PVR ?
If yes, what will be the conversion value for the respective brands?

You can't,pt pool is different

With plat travel the way I see it is if I don’t travel then I have to optimize spends in such as way (through reward multiplier) so that even if I redeem it for Flipkart vouchers then more or less I do get north of 3.6% (not including 10,000/- Taj Voucher) on spends. That’s decent enough non travel redemption IMHO.

We can pool the points from plat travel and mrcc. In fact if it is mapped to the same account, the points already accrue in the same account. While redeeming, choose MRCC not plat travel, then you will see the gold collection options to redeem.

According to him/her it's possible. When you redeem just select MRCC and then you able to redeem those points for the gold collection.

On a different note, I am trying to find any app through which i can use amex cards for Tap n pay NFC payments offline.
I haven't find any like cred,paytm,gpay etc doesnt support and official amex app doesnt have too.
Do anyone know any way for NFC cardless payment in amex?

Yes, see below. I have Plat Travel and MRCC both mapped to my Amex account. I got these cards only a month back but I collected about 18.9K points aggregate on these cards.



All my points are added to the same account, see the top Card Selector, gold is MRCC, silver is Plat Travel.

If I choose Plat Travel in the card selector and go to redemption for Insta Vouchers, I can see the Platinum Travel Collection as shown below



If I choose MRCC in the card selector and go to redemption for Insta Vouchers, I can see the Gold Collection 18K and 24K as shown below:

I am not aware of any such app that allows Amex card to make the payment using NFC.

I am not aware of any such app that allows Amex card to make the payment using NFC.

This seems to be the only one area where amex is lagging behind others. Support for this on their official app was expected here....

I am also aware of a few cases where people weren't able to use PT-earned MR points in the gold collection(enabled through their other MRCC/gold card). Seems this is kind of random, in some ppl it is showing as pooled and some not

2883 points on PT card, rest is on MRCC + one referrer bonus

For me however it is different. Both MRCC and Plat Travel accounts are separate. No combining. Is this something that customer care would be able to do do?

Please check the T&C of the rewards program - https://www.americanexpress.com/in/rewards-terms?intlink=mr-dashboard

It refers to multiple cards accruing to the one single Membership Rewards Program Account. Ofcourse, Corporate cards are treated differently.






It is worth checking with support on merging your Reward Program Accounts, if you want to combine the points for Gold Collection.

Any chance you got the Plat Travel before MRCC?

Yes. First was Plat Travel and then got MRCC as companion card few years back

Only problem with MRCC is that accumulation is very slow... 1K bonus per month requires you to spend for 22-23 months to get to 24K gold collection. That is 2 years!! I don't spend more than 6K per month and try to hit 20K bonus since remaining 14K are better spent on Plat travel. Combining MR is a better idea since redemption can be faster
