Amex Referral Devaluation

And then we go to prison for Credit fraud 🙃
No Way Smile GIF by Muffin & Nuts

At the time of enrollment the patient is made to press 🆗 button which is a consent for applying CC on his name.

Don't be skeptical, we can make it work.
Alright, jokes aside,
What you're proposing here is a credit card application built into a health/medical app,
It all depends on the product itself, if the card is good, banks would partner with you and people will line up for you,
Like onecard and jupitar and stuff

While there are a few cards that give travel insurance(RBL World Safari and Amex Plat charge) ,there are cards that give free ticket cancelation(ICICI Emerald i think, not sure though) and there're 2 cards that give professional indemnity insurance to docs(SBI Doc's and HDFC Doc's, I hold SBI Doctor's card myself)

There's not a single card that gives health insurance in built,
If you can design a health centric card with Insurance, free annual check ups and medications discounts inbuilt, maybe partner up with 1mg or pharmeasy or medlife or Apollo pharmacy or something, i think it'd be worthwhile product, people would really go for it,
Health costs are rising and its the need of the hour

Yes. .. I know.

An year ago my kid's school sent some vouchers to us. It's a corporate hospital discount coupon in the guise of free check up to kid.

Many health check up camps too come to our office to promote their hospitals.

Long time back, this was before i did my PG,
I had consulted for a start up who wanted to design an app and a website to store patients medical data and patients can easily share it with different doctors and hospital in different cities,
They flew me out to banglore from Ahmedabad, put me in hotel for a week in Whitefield and everyday i used work with these coders and web designers giving them technical and medical inputs, designs were quite intuitive and user friendly
I don't know what happened to them, i think they didn't get funding from VCs at the time and shut down eventually,
But the concept itself was quite novel and had practical applications

Amex is a different beast in the US, which is its home market, but like other American companies that have spread their wings or are spreading their wings in emerging, fast-growing markets such as China and India, I don't understand why Amex is not putting more money and resources here in India. Credit card market is almosy saturating in the US and other western markets, whereas it has just started in India, world's fastest growing major economy. I know there's a thing called brand value, which Amex cares a lot about. But many companies have maintained brand value, and still provide great value. Example : Apple. Amex can also think along the same lines and make their cards more rewarding. At present, it seems as if Amex just relies on influencers for marketing and then pushes CC holders to
spend more to get more rewards. Amex needs a series reboot here in India, I feel.

Now most diagnostic labs have similar feature. I did some medical check up and all my data was shared with some remote doctor on call. Covid accelerated digitization of work flow.

Amex is going after quantity more than quality, like majority of banks in india,
Instead of valuing good quality customers, they want mass market their products and win by playing numbers game

And apple ain't the consumer technology pioneer it used be, sure it's the same in India as it's in US, but iphone 16 is quite lackluster and people aren't too happy with it

Yeah covid brought in a lot of advancement in remote access, data sharing and telemedicine into medical field,
Lot of things changed due to covid, not just medical field, remote work and work from hone etc

"Necessity is the mother of all inventions", you see...

Exactly! I was thinking of applying for MRCC but 4.5k+GST is too much for me
If you can spend 2.4L/yr in 1.5k x 4 + 14k/mo. and get good use of 14k Taj vouchers, it might still be worthwhile

Besides amex gives good retention offers to people who spend good amount on their cards, I've been getting 50% off on my Plat Travel for last 2 yrs coz I've spent 4L every yr

Amex Devaluation started with non issuance of LTF MRCC
Then they removed the concept of 1 Free Lower variant card based on existing card.
Now MRCC being charged at Full Fees instead of reduced Fees.

Agreed that fee of mrcc is high but at the same time, criteria of fee waiver is pretty low at 1.5L
If you can't spend that much including govt, nps, fuel etc. then I don't see point in taking it.
Also first year fee is very less so one can take and if not able to cross 1.5L then close it.

New Amex applicants applying via Referral will no longer receive MRCC and Platinum Travel Card as 1st Year Free
Further Amex Is no more offering the reduced annual fee of 1.5k on MRCC for Referral applications and will be charging
full 4.5k Fee only from 2nd Year Onwards.

Is Amex moving Towards a Slow death in India , as they also recently devalued the Platinum Charge Card after increasing its fees.
Its devaluation for so called influencers not for genuine users. This referral bonus started 2years before. Before that also there are customers using amex. Not sure why this is devaluation
